Can someone tell me what the strap drop is on the more recent small tote? (I've heard they started shorter but are now longer) any details are really appreciated. thanks!

Thanks, I did ask there and didn't get a response there either. (well one, but it wasn't someone who actually has the tote in hand and measured it) I don't really trust the stockists.. their dimensions for MG in general are all over the place.

Thanks, yea I guess that must be true. I'm shocked there aren't quite a few people on PF with the small. I saw that small brandy on ebay and she has it listed as 7in. Huge difference from my 9.5 large and wouldn't work for me. So I I'm not taking the chance. Ah well.If people don't answer they probably don't know...

That just doesn't sound right to me...Kat from PS Dept. said it was 8.5 inches. That small brandy tote could be a great deal...
Right, it does look like a great deal. She never said in the listing it was authentic though. What I have read is that in the beginning MG was making the small tote straps smaller and then more recently they started to make them longer. So there may be bags out there with different strap lengths. Either way, if I find one with a free return I may just buy one and see for myself.

I started poking around and found this on a blog post written in March 2014:
Measurements of S tote (comes with zippered pouch): 16.5" length, 9.5" height, 4" depth. I realized this tote sounds wider than it looks because there are no side panels - only a front and back panel which the measurements are taken off of. The visual width is actually only 13" across. Strap drop is 7.5." Removable zip pouch is 8" x 5.5."
So maybe they used to be 7.5 inches and are now longer? I will keep looking!

I have both a small (calf) and a large (saffiano) tote. Both were bought a few months ago. If I hold my fingers in the middle of the strap and measure from the top of the bag where the strap is sewn to the top of the strap, I measure 9 1/2 inches on the small and 10 inches on the large. I wish the strap on the small had that extra 1/2, but I'm using my small (navy) in the summer and the large in the winter. The small my preferred size in the summer, but I haven't tried it with a coat on.
