I'm excited to share some ideas for storing and displaying our beloved bags. My own (non)system had become unworkable and frustrating: bags stored in dust bags and in a glass display case, scattered over 3 or 4 different rooms. I didn't know what I had and I could never quickly find what I wanted. Meanwhile, I don't have much space to spare in my house, so my options were limited.
I had a few objectives when planning this system: 1. store and openly display almost all my Bal bags in one spot; 2. protect against sun and fading; and 3. avoid drilling holes whenever possible.

As shown in my progress photos, I landed on the Kallax box shelf from Ikea, because there are many size/configuration options, it's an open shelf in front and back, and 15" deep. That was key. I didn't want the bags covered in doors or even glass sliding doors. I already have a shelf with glass sliding doors and I can't tell you how many times the doors would get stuck because some piece of some bag jammed it up and got in the way. The 15" depth of the Kallax shelves was perfect for the City and Day. The open back meant there was some cheat room in the back. My shelf is not perfectly flush against the wall because of the baseboard sticking out. That was perfect because I wanted some breathing room in the back.

I found upright file holders that were the perfect width to fit the Kallax cubes, but they only held 4 bags.

That left some unused space in the cubes I wanted to be able to use. So I purchased self-adhesive shelf supports (to avoid drilling holes), and used some 12"x12" Ikea glass tiles I've had forever as the shelf.
The longer side of the self-adhesive shelf supports gave me the perfect lift to fit 1 or 2 Cities under the shelf. It also had a large enough lip jutting out to support the 12" tile, but you can also use 13" x 13" plexiglass or anything that size as the shelf.
I installed the shelves from the very base of the cube so they're not "floating". This gives additional support to the shelves, making it unlikely they'll come crashing down. With the shelf and tile, the cubes will now hold 5 or 6 Cities.
