Going to a nice party soon but there is a v high humidex advisory should I avoid wearing my new yurman as I heard humidity makes silver tarnish? Thanks

No, I think a party is fine. I live in Louisiana where it is humid all of the time and I rarely have to deal with tarnish. I find that the more I wear a silver piece, the better it seems to hold up. It is the stuff I rarely where that tarnishes the quickest.

I know sterling flatware benefits from more use, so perhaps the same applies to jewelry?

When you store your sterling, try popping it in an airtight container with a silicon packet - it definitely helps the humidity/air/tarnish issue. I believe Hagerty also makes "silver strips" that help prevent tarnish during storage.
