Hi all! I never really thought I would be seriously looking at e-rings because I have been single for SO LONG, but my bf and I are seriously looking at a future together in the very near future. We are both older. We both look/dress and feel much younger than our ages, too!

It has been a very long time since I really looked at e-rings (I was in my early 20s the last time I seriously looked). My taste has changed quite a bit, as has my attitude toward a ring. I want something I won't have to upgrade but don't care for a really large stone on my finger, and my profession does not really lend itself to the 'big rock' -although I will say I really enjoy looking at all of your lovely rings in the e-ring section!!

I am a little overwhelmed by the whole selection process-there is so much more to choose from nowadays. I am thinking something classic, perhaps a three stone oval in platinum or wg, but this style catches my eye as well:

The price is much better than one of the local jewelers, who had a similar ring with only a .75 carat center and was H VS2 and was 18k wg not platinum.

I have checked out pricescope.com, too, like all of you suggested. I was a little intimidated there, but I like the reference point for comparison.

How do you find your ring with all the choices? How long did it take you all to find your ring? I feel a little overwhelmed and a little dumb for feeling overwhelmed. :confused1: Please help!!

Thanks! The center stone is a cushion cut 1.00 carat G color IF GIA cert stone:smile1:

I am happy, calm, excited and terrified all at the same time:rolleyes:

Not engaged yet, we are just plotting our future right now so I think I better figure out what I like....:p

Congrats on your future life plans and I do like the ring you are looking at.

I would go and try some on. That is the only way - I think - you don't have to buy it but you can get lots of ideas what "suits" you.

My husband chose mine. I originally wanted a large domed white gold Pave set ring with a split gold wedder to wear either side.

I have quite small fingers (US 5, Aus J)and when I tried it on my hubby wasn't impressed (even though it would of saved him lots of $). I tried on many and the only thing I knew for sure was that I didn't want a solitare and I wanted all my rings to sit flush.

This is what he chose. He chose my eternity as well and I chose the wedding band as I wanted a plain band. I love the setting I have and I am glad he picked it out.

I don't ever see myself upgrading as both of us are too sentimental.

Ooohh, Golden Touch, so pretty! I was thinking three stone ovals. I am also very sentimental and classic and can't see myself upgrading-that's why this is so hard...I get stuff and tend to keep it and love it forever.

Unfortunately, my bf is not the best picker-outer. He did a good job when he picked me (lol), but for other things he really does need a little help. He says he can do it himself then ends up asking me to send him ideas or show him! It's really cute:p

the ring u found on ebay is gorgeous, but sounds a little too good to be true. to have an ideal cut and internally flawless, it seems under-priced. i know many friends who have bought well priced diamonds at jewelry exchanges nearby and done well with their appraisals, but be wary on ebay. if its really true, i'd buy it in a heartbeat! i'd go to a big store or jewelry exchange and start trying on rings - i ended up choosing a completely different e-ring from the one i originally thought i wanted! sometimes u have to just put them on to decide. good luck!

If you look farther down on the page it says the diamond is VS-SI, which is more in line with the price. The conflicting specs on the diamond would be enough to keep me away from this seller, although I think the design of the ring is beautiful.

Hi! Thanks for everyone's support-my bf is starting to clean out his garage today (his New Years resolution??) to start to make room for my 'stuff'-that's going to be a feat since I own my own fully furnished 4 bedroom home-I think he'll need to build another garage in the backyard of his house-lol!:sweatdrop:

I will probably end up getting a storage unit and renting out my home-I will probably have till April-May to get my act together.

Anyway, the center stone on the ebay ring has a link to the GIA report on it certifying G color IF. The VS-SI description is for the side stones in the setting.

Here's the link to the cert: http://mdcdiamonds.com/images/cert/17428662.jpg

They have a showroom/office in NYC on 5th Ave and you can go there by appointment only. They also offer a 14 day full cash back return policy. I guess if you buy with a cc that's good protection too. Just a thought.

I am not tied to this particular vendor, but I do like the style and specs of that ring.

Maybe we need to fly to NYC?? Has anyone done that??

The local jewelers in my area have been unimpressive and pricey (so far).
