Hi friends!

My dream chanel bag is a black mini rectangle flap in caviar with silver hardware. They haven’t made these for a while but I can’t bring myself to buy it secondhand. In the meantime I’ve purchased a couple other bags which I love because I’ve been having a hard time finding any minis at all! Today 3 came in. One green with a top handle, and two square in black and a very light pink. All lambskin with light gold hardware. I’m a person who always wears neutrals and curious if I should snag the black square while it’s available or keep waiting until maybe I get lucky with a rectangle? Ideally I’d find a black, beige, denim, or tweed mini. Do you have a square mini? Do you love it? Photo attached.

I do not have a square one but I have a mini rectangular one in beige. I chose that one because it fits a bit more and looks classier to me. I have the one with a handle because it looks more chic as well as practical.

I don’t have a square mini, as I prefer and own rectangular ones. If you think you are going to continue wanting the rectangular black mini after purchasing the square, then I will suggest you to wait. If you were only neutrals then the green minis might not be what you are looking for . As per the pink nude mini square, it is pink but very neutral and really pretty, that might be a good option for you. GLD

I have a black mini rectangular. I was not a fan of how the square looked on my figure (maybe it's something to do with my being petite). I held out for my rectangular and have no regrets! I think if you settle for a different bag, you end up getting the bag you wanted in the first place down the line anyway. It depends on whether you want to spend that kind of money twice! Chanel don't make mini classic flaps in caviar anymore (I too would have preferred caviar leather for mine), you're only option there is to go for lambskin, or wait for a seasonal caviar mini to be released that's very similar to a classic flap (except maybe it'll have a handle or a different chain or something).

I have 4 squares and 1 rectangle all with silver hardware and in caviar. I got lucky and snagged them all around 2016-18 for cheap as chips relatively speaking. Clearly I prefer the square and I don't there is much difference in terms of capacity. I would like another rectangle in caviar but the second hand market is extortionate. Op you've already said you've bought a few other bags since and now looking for another which wont be caviar. It might be more cost effective saving for your dream bag which I get will be very overpriced in the second hand market but it will stop you buying many times over. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your input! I am going to try and be patient. I know they don’t make caviar and silver hardware in the minis anymore but I think I will be happy with a store fresh neutral in lambskin with the light gold hardware. I’ve waited this long!

I have your exact "dream bag" and it's one of my most used and loved bags. I'm not a fan of the square as I like the longer strap and capacity shape of the rectangle. You should really consider a seasonal caviar small bag. I recently bought the sweetheart caviar small in white and it's very similar in look and capacity to my mini. It's a bit bigger and has the adjustable chain which I love. If you're always going to want that dream bag, you might want to consider just saving up for it so you can grab it if you find it. For me, when I want something specific, if I try to satisfy it with something close, I end up just spending more than if I just bit the bullet and purchased what I love.
