I just want to report an incident I had, didnt find much info when I searched myself so this might help someone else.
I managed to put an almost full water bottle (0.5 L) in my empreinte leather cognac Neverfull with the lid only half screwed on...of course it spilled out, drenching the bottom part of the bag from within. Luckily I noticed quite shortly thereafter, maybe 5-10 minutes or so (went from my car to hotel room). I emptied the stuff inside (had, among other stuff, Dior wallet and LV keyholder, colud more or less just brush the water off them) and poured water out. Tried to dry the microfiber inside as best I could, and then hung up the bag to hopefully dry out. Returning to my hotel room 3 hours or so later, I noticed to my absolute HORROR that on one side of the bottom third of the bag the leather was considerably darker/without luster and greyish, and also quite swollen, like a very noticably ridge compared to the rest of the bag. Similar underneath, and also a bit on the other side. It looked the same a few hours later and I was so heartbroken. I figured the leather had sucked up water from the inside and this was the result. (In desperation I tired to blow dry the inside a bit, however this didn't seem to make any difference and I have read afterwards that this is NOT recommended)
But - lo and behold - the next day all discolouring had disappeared, and the swelling too! A discrete vein can be seen where the "water line" was, but it is only noticable because I know it was there (I can se similar discrete veins higher up on the bag too, so it actually looks just like natural variation). T
So, all in all - empreinte leather seems to be able to actually manage this kind of mishap, at least it did this one time. So if it happens to you, dry it out and give it some time. Of course the best thing is to not carry fluids XD, but alas, life happens.
Unfortunately didn't take any pics of my discoloured bag but trust me, it looked horrible...
