I find these bags so inherently differently. I feel like a Speedy is very much a casual jeans, t-shirt kinda bag, whilst the Metis is more serious, trousers and blouse kinda vibe. But thats just my opinion.

I like both and I think you need both. But I believe everyone should own a speedy. It's such an iconic Louis Vuitton design, you really cannot beat it. But I also love the Pochette Metis. And it goes up in price all the time, so you might want to get a move on it before another price hike. LV has had 2 price increases this year.

So maybe get the Pochette Metis first, THEN the speedy. At the end of the day, I think you need both.

If we look at both bags they both offer the same functionality however look different when worn cross body. The Pochette Metis looks better crossbody (granted that's the main way to wear it) and offers easy access and egress and contents are easily organised inside due to the interior. The Speedy although with crossbody functionality these days doesnt sit the same on the body (I suppose it would largely depend on the body habitus) but again offers easy access and egress and as it's the 25 its not so large that you could not organise your contents without needing an insert. It can also be worn in the crook of the elbow where the Pochette Metis would be a hand carry as alternative. Both bags can be worn with smart or casual attire so it would depend on what you would want the most.
