Hello all,

I bought my speedy b 30 back in Oct 2019 I used it a handful of times before putting it in storage due to lockdown in March 2020. I’ve just pulled it back out and the hardware on the strap looks just awful. I’m not sure if this is tarnishing or something else? I’ve contacted LV via WhatsApp but in the meantime I wondered if anyone else can identify what the problem is? I’m not sure if it’s just tarnishing but if it is, can anyone recommend a polish in the UK? Honestly it wouldn’t bother me had I had any decent use out of the bag but I’ve literally used it about 4 times so I’m quite disappointed!

Yes, it looks like tarnish to me and any brass polishing product should fix it up (I've used Blue Magic 300 Metal Polish Cream before, but I'm located in the US). Just be careful not to get it on the leather. I believe tarnishing usually happens as a result of oxidation due to exposure to air/humidity/etc, so how many times you actually used the bag doesn't really matter. You could try storing it with some of those silica packets to reduce the chances of it tarnishing in the future (haven't tried this myself for purses, so I'm not sure how well it'll work, but I do this with my jewelry).

Thank you, I’ve been out to purchase some polish, and a jewellery cleaner cloth as well to try that. The lock which is very discoloured came out lovely but the buckles pictured didn’t budge. I’m hesitant to keep spending money on trying to clean it so I’m going to wait and see what client services recommend.

Well turns out I was being a bit dramatic about this  I’m so paranoid about damaging this bag I was being too gentle j think. I pulled out the trusty brasso and decided to put a bit of elbow grease in instead of babying it and it’s come out so much better! Thanks for the advice :)
