Hi,
I understood that the DE print has a more matte leather a year back (i think?), so I was wondering if the strap for the Speedy B is uncomfortable if the bag is full?

I have always wanted to get the Speedy B in DE for a decade now, but I could not pull the trigger because the strap was not comfortable for me. I have weak shoulders and back, and I own a Neverfull in the same print. Although some said that the leather will break in and be comfortable over time, I never had such luck with my Neverfull, which I have used on and off for a good 8 years now. Most of my bags are quite heavy - Alma PM (I just adore the structure!), Chanel jumbo, Prada galleria, and a Balenciaga Metallic Edge in the large size. Even the strap of my Pochette Metis can be uncomfortable if I put more things, and being a mom, it is really difficult not to carry many things.

At the moment, I am not eyeing at other bags. I tried the new Odeon but I just am not too attracted with its silhouette, yet. The mono Speedy B - I like it too but I stay at a place that rains alot.

The strap is not uncomfortable and can be adjusted and used as you like it. Strap has 3 pieces but you dont have to use all 3 at once. You can use 2 pieces and use as a shoulder bag or use 3 pieces as a crossbody. It’s quite versatile.

Thank you! May I know how long have you owned/used the Speedy B in DE with the new matte leather?

I don't think the speedy is heavy. It all depends on how much you put in it. :amuse:

If you have back/shoulder problems my physiotherapist recommends a back pack. She keeps telling me all the time lol.

Another option is to get a thicker strap. There are lots of them on the market. Doesn't have to be LV.

I have a full leather backpack from Japan, but I find myself rarely using it. Perhaps it doesn’t match with my clothes/style. I prefer to get a crossbody, but so far I did not see any other bags that I like from the website.

I have both straps (treated leather and vechetta), I honestly think its doesn't matter. As long as you don't carry heavy things in your bag for a long period of time then you will be okay. I also switch shoulder after a while, unless you have shoulder pain, than this is another issues.

I purchased the Speedy B 30 in DE earlier this year, June maybe? Anyway it has been my primary bag since then. What I do is store the extra third piece of the long handle in the bag and leave the other two attached for shoulder carry. I usually love a satchel for hand carrying but always liked the flexibility of being able to go hands free which is why I got the Speedy B. With the mess of COVID this year, I now find myself most carrying it exclusively on my shoulder, something I never thought I would do! I have not found the matte coating uncomfortable personally. If I load the bag to the gills, which I have done, it does get heavy which I dislike. But I usually don't stuff it that full. I also purchased a mono Speedy 30 a month or two ago because I love the aged patina look and really want a bag that I can age and make my own but due to rainy FL it hasn't made an appearance outside. In fact I wanted to use it both days this weekend, thought it barely looked like rain so did not use it and it ended up raining both days. So frustrating! Anyway sorry to get off topic. I think as others mentioned, there are different straps you could use so I bet you could find something else if the original strap ended up not working for you. Hope that maybe helps!

Wow.... thank you foe your input! I appreciate the detailed sharing, and I dont find them off topic! Have you experienced much wrinkling on the DE leather?

I have had both DE straps (newer matte finish since January). Aside from how it looks, I really haven't felt too much of a difference. There is a bit more suppleness to the matte finish in hand, but across my shoulder I don't feel a huge change.

I have both speedy B and neverfull in DE with matte leather. Long time ago, I owned the original version and sold it away. I can feel the difference, the matte leather is softer. I don’t carry much on my speedy B because it’s size 25 and I don’t want to make it bulky. I use all 3 straps, perfect for worry free cross body bag. Good luck on deciding..

I have noticed some on the bottom of the strap that goes on my shoulder. I figure if it gets bad, I will buy a replacement down the road. But I also have used this purse almost every day since getting it and I don't definitely baby it. :)

I have a 2020 b25 in de with matte leather and I really don’t find it uncomfortable to carry per se even when somewhat full, the discomfort is mostly with the edges of the strap which are kind of sharp and not tapered/rounded so they can dig into bare skin in warm weather. The strap is already softening a bit. I primary shoulder carry with 2 strap pieces and find it really pretty comfortable. I think there’s something about the angle of the cross body carry where the edges of the strap may dig in a little more to make it less comfortable. I really love it though.
