I want to add a Speedy B 25 to my collection because my Speedy 25 in damier azur is my most used bag. I already have a Speedy B 20 in mono, so I was planning on a damier ebene. As it rains frequently in my country and I don’t want to spray my bags with a water repellant, I thought the damier ebene would age better as well.
Yesterday, I went to the store and only the mono was available. The SA advised the monogram because the damier ebene is a winter bag, while the mono can be used the year round . She also said that LV doesn’t plan on releasing new items in damier, although it still remains a popular choice. I would use it as an everyday bag, so I’d prefer one that is trendy, in style right now (although I’m sure that DE will never go out of style).
A benefit of the mono is that I can use the strap with my Speedy 20. The guitar strap is quite heavy, which sometimes is a problem, because I have shoulder issues.
It also looks like the strap of the mono is a bit softer and more comfortable than the DE. Both may soften with use though, so I’m not sure if that’s a real con.
I was leaning towards the mono after my visit, but the a woman entered the store with a Speedy B 25 in mono and it looked very very slouchy and the vachetta on both the side of the bags was very wrinckled. I like the look of a Speedy that sags a bit, but this was too much. I haven’t seen this with DE yet.
Any advice would be appreciated!
