I'd tend to want a hands-free bag on vacation. But then I tend to do outdoorsy/active vacations. If you are going on a city vacation, it would probably work.

We're going to Lara, Turkey and staying in an all inclusive resort.
The only time I'm using the bag is during the flight to our destination and back.

you should bring it just to travel there and back & lock it up in your room when you're not using it.
OOH! I was just in Turkey in May. It's one of my favorite places I have ever been. Although my trip was hiking and going to check out historical/ancient stuff, not a resort trip (although we did spend half of the trip on various places along the mediterranean).
IMO, I wouldn't take it if that's your vacation. Bring something that is less likely to draw unwelcome eyes. (I once witnessed a purse snatching on a busy street during the day)
Also, if you intend to shop then you could always bring bact the new one as "used" and not have to pay custom. Everytime I travel, I always pick up a bag or two and Customs doesn't know.
