A friend wants to buy his wife a wonderful jewelry item with a budget of $5,000 or $6,000. She is turning 50 and is not into earrings or watches. She is not into Cartier either. What do you suggest? If possible please post pics! Do a lot of people here suggest tennis bracelets or is there a great right hand ring from Tiffanys or Yurman or other designer? TIA!

well, if his budget is $5,000 or $6,000, i definitely wouldn't recommend yurman. but a tennis bracelet would be stunning. but if she isn't into watches, would she wear a tennis bracelet?

not even a love bracelet, huh? i mean, i think the whole sentiment is perfect and with his budget, he can add a few diamonds in there, as well.

maybe a love ring with diamonds???

i know she isn't into cartier, but does it really matter that it's cartier? or does she hate the thought of anything and everything to do with cartier?

otherwise, i'm at a loss. lucky lady and she doesn't even know it yet.

I think she likes Cartier but feels it is overpriced. Personally I disagree and love Cartier! But everyone has a right to their own opinion. Do you like tennis bracelets more than diamond bangles? I think tennis ones with more give might be more comfortable to wear.

If she's not into earrings or watches, but you think she'd like a tennis bracelet.... has he tried Blue Nile? I've always been pleased with their quality.

Also, what about necklaces? maybe a solitaire pendant? He could do a "build your own" and choose the diamond & setting?

For $6438, I selected a 1.01ct ideal cut/polish/symmetry VS2 G color platinum bezel set diamond pendant. He could tweak the 4Cs if he wants it different.

I'm thinking that if the recipient thinks cartier is overpriced, she will think the same for all designers, so it's always best to go the non designer route.

I LOVE the tiffany legacy and I'm sure there are inspired versions out there. :D I concur with ahertz on the sapphire halo or tiffany legacy style.

I'm sorry she isn't into Cartier, because I think the perfect gift would be the Cartier love Bangle. It's worn everyday, and is a constant reminder of a special occasion or person.

I would have thought cartier would be ideal. I can understand that for some people it is not what makes them happy.

With regards to your question, I could suggest 50 things that I would like, but the key is to find out exactly what the lady in question would like? What brands? What does she feel she needs? Rings, Bracelets, Necklace, does it have to be jewellery? If you are going to spend, you may as well spend on something the lady would actually love.

personally, i would rather have a diamond love bangle, but then again, i have a plain rose gold one, so obviously i'm biased.

that being said, maybe for her, a tennis bracelet would work better since she can take it off and on whenever she pleases, whereas the love bangle is meant to be left on at all times. obviously, if she doesn't like watches, she might have an issue with this.

What about a beautiful, one of a kind estate/antique piece (necklace, right hand ring, ets.?) Perhaps he could putter around some local, higher end antique jewelry shops and see if anything grabs him.

If it was me I would love the large Boucheron Quatre ring with diamonds, $6500, as a RHR. If she doesn't like designers than maybe a simple 5 stone diamond ring or stacking bands.
