I was thinking of bi-color, either red box with fushcia piping, or vert anis chevre with dark brown contrast stitching and piping, but I think I will eventually settle on a safe, one-color birkin.

Tammy, you can still have a exterior one-colour birkin, with a different colour interior. I find that the cyclamen interior of my choc box makes it easier to find things inside. You might want to think about this possibility. You just need to specify for the piping to the same colour as the leather, with the constrast only in the inside.
