My coll came over and told me hermes can source globally for your as long as you put 50% deposit. Will refund if they can't get it eventually. Thought this is a pretty good idea. You don't lose anything if they can't find it.

She wanted a medor belt (very small size), and put a 50% with our H store, but she said didn't manage to find, globally no stock. They refund her the deposit. and she said she manged to put in two birkins for the waitlist.

I wonder if all stores have their own policy?

My wonderful SA has had a do a global search for afew items for myself and DH and we have never had to put a deposit down. However she does know that if we ask her to search for something for us in a specific colour/leather we always without fail purchase the item.

My take is that H is likely to take a deposit from customers who are not known to them i.e. new or non-regulars. Ms. Birkin, sounds like you're a regular at your store and they know you well.

My local H will do a world search for me, no deposit. But if I ask for a world search, I invariably end up happily buying the results.

I'm waiting on the results on mine. I didn't have to do a deposit either. Actually, I called in to have this global search done. I don't know and not aware of the store's policy regarding this, but maybe it depends on your relationship with the store I suppose. In my case, you can say that the SAs there recognize my voice. :shame:
