I looked at the copyright of the book I just bought and it says 1998. The publisher's date online says July 2007. So maybe she had it copyrighted in 1998 and decided to release it 2007?

hmmm, I've read all her books and never saw this one, will go track one down, thanks for the tip!

Another great author is Seattle's own Jane Porter - similar type books, pretty funny - I've recently read all three of her books and loved them, definitley Kinsella type writing.

oh my! i love the shopaholic series and best of all, i love rebecca bloomwood. she is soo funny and i can totally relate to when she go all crazy in her shopping antics =)
thanks for sharing!

ohhh i love sophie kinsella! the gatecrasher was written before the shopaholic books became popular, and she wrote it under her real name. at the time it didnt really go anywhere or get much attention in the US. Now that the shopaholic books are so popular they have re-released her Gatecrasher book in hopes that people will be interested in it this time around. I know many of you may have read this one but "Can You Keep a Secret" was also written by Sophie Kinsella and it is not a shopaholic book. It is one of the best books i have ever read (in terms of light, fun reads) and it actually made me LAUGH OUT LOUD soooo much! (which i think is a really hard thing for a book to do!) I totally reccomend that one!!

ps- i bought the gatecrasher and started reading but just couldnt get into it (this is like a year ago)so i stopped and havent looked at it since. somehow its not as funny as her other books. however, i may have needed to stick it out for a little longer. the undomestic goddess is another one of sophie kinsellas books and that one was really good too!

Love the Shopaholic series and Sophie Kinsella is my kind of writer.....witty, smart, and just plain fun! Thanks for the thread and I'll be sure to look for it at Border's this weekend!

Thank you so much for posting! I love Sophie Kinsella and have read all of her books! I don't think I would have recognised this one under her real name ... thank you:tup:
