Hero: Mariah Carey
I'll be there: Mariah Carey..lots of Mariah Carey songs
Thank you : Nathalie Merchant
The way you love me "Faith Hill

OH! I totally forgot about old Mariah Carey songs! Hero made me cry the first time I heard it, and Breakdown got me through a previous break up (even though its a sad song).

*hugs* i'm so sorry you're hurting hun.

i recently broke up with my boyfriend, and i felt more anger than sadness about the whole thing. as a result, i listened to Taking Back Sunday's first album, "Tell All Your Friends" because a lot of the songs are about being angry at someone you love and needing to change how things are. there's one song, i believe it's track six, that ends by screaming the line "This is what living like this does" over and over, and it's quite therapeutic to scream right along with it while speeding and banging on the stearing wheel (can ya tell i've done this recently?)

whatever helps ya, hun, i hope you find it *hug*

I love most of her songs, I have playlist just for her songs
Got me through my break up too..(well college times )

When I got canned from my first job out of college last summer, I listented to this song a lot, very loudly. It helped a lot

"Rooftops" by Hot Water Music

i've gotten the scars to remind me i've watched the clocks go around
i've walked myself through some days that have put me where i am
in another time in another place all things might have been in place
but for now i'm finding myself up here standing on a rooftop screaming
hey world are you listening are you listening to me
i'm here and i'm hurting to begin again
it's another time it's another place and we are making more old days
but for now i'm finding myself out here standing on my doorstep screaming
hey world are you listening are you listening to me
i'm here and i'm hurting to begin again
hey world i'm ready to listen and learn something new
i'm here and i'm willing to get myself through

When I'm feeling angry and resentful, nothing beats Eve 6 and their super cynical lyrics. "Promise" and "Inside Out" are particularly excellent.

Also the Cruel Intentions soundtrack and "I get knocked down," by chumbawamba.

For indulging in sentimental emotionalism the Wonder Years soundtrack actually has great songs like the already mentioned "tracks of my tears," as well as "tears of a clown," "God only knows what I'd be without you," "Just walk away Renee" and "There's Got to be a Morning After."

Recent good ones are "behind these hazel eyes" and "since you've been gone," by Kelly Clarkson.

I'm a very moody person and I brood over things a lot, so I have loads more songs -- I just need to think of them and get them posted!!

But everyone should try to cheer-up. I know it's a total cliche and I never like to hear it when my heart is being broken...but time really does heal all (or at least most!) wounds. I remember feeling practically suicidal over losing various guys...now when I think about all of them I don't feel anything at all, except for annoyance over the time I wasted.

You WILL feel better:flowers:

Anything by Eva Cassidy.

If I have to be more specific, her "Live from Blues Alley" CD and her "Eva by Heart" CD's are the best.

There's nothing like her voice, and her music. Whether I need healing from a broken heart, illness, loniless, or just general life frustration, she hits my soul. More than even my gospel favorites.

i listen to:
Celine Dion - Ain't Gonna Look The Other Way
Madonna - Easy Life
Christina Aguilera - Beautiful
Christina Aguilera - A Voice Within
Kelly Clarkson - Because of You
Lindsay Lohan - Confessions of A Broken Heart
My Chemical Romance - Helena
Simple Plan - Welcome To My Life
Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Tamia - When Will It Be Me?

yea those tend to do it. a good hard cry helps a lot.

Christina Aguilera and Celine Dion are the two that works the best.

I'm so sorry to hear about your heartache right now! I'm not sure if you're looking for breakup music/make up music/moving on music, so I'll recommend a little of everything:

For any heartache: ALL Patsy Cline...she's wonderful

For breakups: "Somebody that I used to Know" - Elliott Smith

Whoops, accidentally posted early!

Breakups - Fiona Apple's second two CDs too, plus Liz Phair, try Exile in Guyville

Make Ups - this is harder, I like Ani Difranco, she talks a lot about complicated love situations.

Moving On - Try the soundtrack from My Best Friend's Wedding

Take care, we're all here for you!

Here's a good makeup song too, sorry for all the posts...

Ordinary People - John Legend

Girl I'm in love with you but
This ain't the honeymoon
We're past the infatuation phase
Right in the thick of love
At times we get sick of love
It seems like we argue everyday

[Bridge]

I know i misbehaved
And you made your mistakes
And we both still got room left to grow
And though love sometimes hurts
I still put you first
And we'll make this thing work
But I think we should take it slow

[Chorus]

We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
Cuz we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow (Take it slow oh oh ohh)
This time we'll take it slow (Take it slow oh oh ohh)
This time we'll take it slow

[Verse 2]

This ain't a movie no
No fairy tale conclusion ya'll
It gets more confusing everyday
Sometimes it's heaven sent
Then we head back to hell again
We kiss then we make up on the way

[Bridge]

I hang up you call
We rise and we fall
And we feel like just walking away
As our love advances
We take second chances
Though it's not a fantasy
I Still want you to stay

[Chorus]

We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
Cuz we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow (Take it slow oh oh ohh)
This time we'll take it slow (Take it slow oh oh ohh)
This time we'll take it slow

[Verse 3]

Take it slow
Maybe we'll live and learn
Maybe we'll crash and burn
Maybe you'll stay, maybe you'll leave,
maybe you'll return
Maybe another fight
Maybe we won't survive
But maybe we'll grow
We never know baby youuuu and I

[Chorus]

We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
Cuz we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow (Heyyy)
We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
Cuz we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow (Take it slow oh oh ohh)
This time we'll take it slow (Take it slow oh oh ohh)
This time we'll take it slow
