Long time lurker, first time poster. I’m unsure of the rules of advertising on this forum so I’ll be non specific. I have an excellent condition Birkin in a favourable colour, I need to sell because of personal reasons and it definitely was not an easy decision. I’m only going to consign if I have no options, but I’ve been reaching out to Birkin buying sites, the prices they seem to buy at compared to the resell is very significant. I have an appointment with a local luxury reseller, but I’m unsure if my expectations are too high?

My questions are:
  • If you’ve sold an excellent condition Birkin, how much was it for?
  • Which sites have more favourable buying rates? Any small ones that I’ve unheard of?
I’ve only been contacted by one reseller since I only started yesterday. I was told they are not really buying, and if they are it’s at half what they usually buy at. I almost fainted when I asked the rough amount that would be...$3k. I know current events are influencing buyers but wow! Any advice please

Here is a good place to start. https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/discuss-hermes-resale-ebay-sellers.643531/

In general, smaller bags are hotter right now so the larger the bag, the lower the resale price to expect. An online consignor will generally take 20-40% of the sale price. There are also first person selling sites like eBay, tradesy, poshmark, and Facebook groups which will likely give you the highest amount of money in your pocket but comes with the highest personal risk and potentially may take a while to sell. Good luck!

Havent seen trades thank you

If I can say it’s a (deleted for forum rules)
This pale gray bag is what you're selling? It's beautiful. Try to sell it if you can before the market gets inundated
with darker fall colors, before July or August.
I have some this and that (not a bag) which I was thinking of consigning but I am trying to wait till more people are in an economically better place, i.e., going back to work and getting paychecks.

Which facebook pages are legitimate for buying Hermes bags?
There are none that are blanketly “legitimate” as scammers can be anywhere. It’s all about doing your due diligence, using protective payment methods, and getting professional authentication etc. I personally would never buy that way but it’s all up to one’s personal trust and comfort level.

I think since you have contacted several resellers wait until the quotes come in from all to assess.
& you can begin the process of deciding once you get a range of pricing
Try & be realistic about the offers as this is a very challenging time in the marketplace.
The color of your bag is lovely & can be worn almost all year around so that could be an advantage
as summer weather will start in areas around the country
There are still many who do like the larger size Birkin so it just may come down to finding the right
reseller
Good luck..

@Floran I highly recommend Ann's Fab Finds.
You can work with them to set the price you want and their customer svc is outstanding. More of a personal experience.
For that bag you should get a good price and if you price it right (since it's not new) it will move fast.
I have a large following on IG so if I need to move something, that's where I go now but I used Anns previously and it was a fabulous experience.
