So I used to work at Coach years ago and had tons and tons of their bags as a result - all of which I loved. Once I finished my masters and started working in the corporate world, I realized that the metallic python bag (and many other more fashionable pieces) were just not appropriate (I've since gone to law school and now am in an even more buttoned-up work environment). Living in a bigger city (not huge, but big) everyone around here carries a Louis. I was immediately smitten. I first purchased a speedy (damier ebene print), eventually was sick of seeing everyone with them and sold it for another style (bigger, more expensive, more work-focused bag, same damier ebene print) and I now just sold that bag as I've gotten sick of it again. I was all about getting their neverfull bag, but I feel like everywhere I turn someone is carrying a louis vuitton. I don't live in the most fashionable city, so I feel like I'm just seeing what everyone thinks they should carry... I've seen girls in their pajamas carrying a louis bag.

So I couldn't help but think maybe this canvas bag really isn't all that fashionable and I am just loving it because I see them everywhere.

Ideally, I would love a YSL camel tote or a Chanel quilted camel bag, but I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of cash on a bag. There's a heck of a lot more you could do with that money. (and truth be told, my Louboutin habit is far worse than my handbag habit).

So... the Swagger comes out. Even my girlfriends in NYC are loving this bag. (And commended me for getting rid of my louis). I am debating getting the tan pebble leather style to wear all spring and summer.. and then the black on black matte for the fall.

Am I nuts? Am I growing up and this is the first step in being fashionable versus trendy? (Mind you, I just turned 29... bought the speedy when I was 25... and so on.)

Has anyone else done this?

I never got the Louis bug. I have always been a leather girl (not saffiano). I looked at the Louis smooth leather bags from a distance the other day and it was not love. I couldn't identify what made them better than Coach. But I didn't handle them.

I figure Coach will continue to come out with styles I love. Not all of them - only a few - but they come out with so many styles, I know if I wait, I'll find my perfect smooth (or occasionally pebbled) leather bags.

I think you need to figure out what YOU love, and not what everyone else loves. Of course, that factors into it, but once you know what YOU love, it becomes a lot easier to decide. Try on everything! Analyze like crazy. Download pics and put bags with suits and watches and jewelry and shoes. (I use the pic stitch app to quickly put things side by side to see if they look good together.)

And yes, I have the black on black and nude swaggers. I don't really want more since it is such an identifiable bag. The boroughs are a little more versatile looks-wise. The Saint Laurent SDJ is the work bag that I dream of, but not at $3K. So I'm happy with my Coach bags.

TOTALLY agree on saffiano leather. I hate it. I love the Tory Burch York Tote, but refuse to buy saffiano!

And good tips for comparisons... I just know I love the look of those YSL bags and for the time being if I can achieve it with a different but similar style I am going to go for that. I just feel like it's easy to get caught up in "Carrying a Louis" because of the popularity (and I'm talking monogram, damier, etc.) that you don't step back and assess your overall style, how that bag fits with your wardrobe, etc. (At least for me).

Mind you, I love their Epi Leather, so I may just wait til fall for a nice black epi Louis.

I carry the Louis Favorite clutch (MM size) and I will say that has been one of the best things I've invested in. Great clutch, crossbody strap, chain strap for your shoulder... really great.

I think a couple swagger purchases are on deck!

Nothing is nuts. I love both Louis & Coach (although I haven't really been liking the new Coach styles for about a year and a half). You should carry what you love regardless of whether it is popular or not. I don't care if everyone & their cousin has my bag, or if no one has my bag. It just matters if I love the look of it, and if it serves my needs for that day.

Personally, i feel when we buy what we like vs what we love, is when we start thinking of reasons to buy a new bag that suits or fits us more if you like...like you i bought a Louis Vuitton Artsy, best decision i made, i adore that bag, but that was the only one. I feel if i buy more now, they will all look the same, plus not wanting to spend even 2k on a bag, can do so much more with that moolah :) ...bought one AW bag, have a few Coach in my collection and one latest Fossil acquisition. I like i have variety in terms of leathers, styles and even brands..Go for it!! :)

I don't think you are nuts. The swagger is a very nice bag. I have the nude one and I like it a lot. Like everyone else said, you should carry what you like and not worry about whether it's fashionable or trendy. I like both Coach and LV. The speedy and Neverful are both classics and Lots of women like them (hence they are everywhere) -- not for me though because they are not functional for me personally. of course if you ask this same question on the LV forum, they will say you are nuts :). So I say go for the swagger and post a picture when you have it.

I agree with you on seeing LV everywhere. I live in a big city & can go to any mall in the area & count at least 50 canvas print LVs. Sometimes I see leather LV, but it's mostly neverfull, speedy, delightful, artsy.

Swagger is a nice bag. It's simple & clean in its design. The interior slot pockets fit an iPhone 5 series but not the iPhone 6. It's a bit heavier especially if you're used to carrying LV canvas bags. There is also a small slot to put a pen in. No d-ring for your keys. The handles can rotate downward if they bother you when you carry it cross body or on the shoulder.

Not crazy at all. Buy what makes you happy, but my only recommendation is, unless you're absolutely sure you love X bag, don't buy more than one at once. Buy one 1st, see how you like it, wait a bit till the infatuation passes, then buy the other. Around December of last year, I was completely infatuated with the Michael Kors Hamilton Traveler. I bought a black medium with silver hardware and a small white crossbody, because I was dieing for a white bag. Well, I've used the black MK for about 3 months and haven't touched the white one yet.
I just received my medium black/gold Swagger today. I need to go back to the store, because the hardware is all scratched. It's a gorgeous bag, but I'm not sure I'll keep it because I find it kind of heavy empty and the 27 might be too small. We'll see. I'm going to the store tomorrow and I'll decide. Enjoy yours!
