So I just bought these two silver rings. Can they be resized??

One is a 7 and the other is an 11. I need them both resized to fit a 5. Did I make a mistake in buying these? I really hope not. They're gonna be so pretty when they're shined up!

The one on the red background is the size 11. And it's 15mm wide.

The other is the size 7 and it's a 1/2inch wide.

Thanks! Jen

The 7 to 5 should be OK - ss is soft and typically not the most favorite of jewelers to work with but a good bench jeweler should be able to size the ring. The ring going from a 11 to 5 could be more problematic - that's a huge sizing difference. But a jeweler will be able to tell you if it's possible. Cool rings - Good Luck!

Thanks! I REEEEALLY hope someone is able to make the 11 a 5. It's a plain band, hopefully they can do it! I just bought them on Evilbay, I can't wait to get them!

I've always been told that silver can't be sized. the metal has to be heated to such a high temperature, & it compromises the piece which isn't worth it for the value.

please someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

even if the ring on the red background were gold, I think you'd have a very hard time finding someone to size from an 11 all the way down to a 5. the most I've dealt with in sizing using very experienced bench jewelrs is 2.5 sizes down.

Silver is beautiful but in my experience, jewellers don't like to resize it because it is not costly. Usually costs more to resize than the price of the ring.

In the case of the size 7 that you want to become a size 5, I'd get a jeweller to fit it with the little thing they put inside that sizes it down. This costs 4 or 5 dollars and works great. I don't think the size 11 is going to become a size 5, maybe there is someone you could gift it to?
Good luck.

Oh man! Well, we'll see when they get here. I'm going to every store around town to see if anyone can do it! LOL! I JUST bought another one like the one on the red background but it's a size 7 1/2 and it's 10mm instead of 15mm. I guess I could wear the other on a chain?

Thanks for all the replies!

Err! I got the one on the red background day before yesterday. IT'S HOLLOW! I knew something was up when I got the package out of the mailbox and the wind almost took it out of my hands! Darnit. AND, it wasn't 15mm wide...it was 12. AND, the other ring I bought from them, wich was exactly the same, was the wrong ring. They sent me something diff. I'm not having any luck on ebay..lol!

Sterling can be resized - most jewelers do not like to work with it because of the properties of the metal. Depending on the style of the ring, it can be sized but a jeweler may not WANT to.
