So how limited, these days, are the runway bags?

This is probably a stupid question, and I'm not even sure how, completely to phrase it, but how limited are the runway bags lately (ie. last autumn, now this autumn).

For example, in the past, when we knew there were some number N in stock, we also knew that there was probably re-stocking coming later. Even some of those Anna Sui bags were re-stocked at one point, weren't they, a few years ago?

With the factors of 1) Vevers runway, and 2) corporate's "attempted" changes, do we think that has phenomenon has changed?

I'm asking primarily because there's another "Vevers fall runway collection" (whatever the right term is) bag I want, and I'm wondering what stock will be like. It's not available in department stores, not available on foreign Coach sites I've checked, and is indeed an online exclusive on the American site. Stock is less than 100. Part of me is tempted to wait until the supposed Black Friday PCE to see if that pce *might* allow use on these "collection" bags. At the same time, if it's less than 100 in stock now, and is only available through Coach online .... do I think it might get re-stocked or not? As a "collection" bag, and in these current times? Do I think it might sell out before pce? (And as I said, I wonder if the next pce will allow "collection" pieces or not.)

I'm rambling. Sorry. I hate trying to make these types of decisions. :-/
Thanks for any thoughts.

I've just reread my post. This *is* a bag I really like. I mean, it really is. Is it work waiting and risking to see if pce will be usable on "collection"? Exactly how badly will I kick myself, one way or the other?

Considering that they excluded the "Collection" items from the most recent PCE event, if available during the next event, a runway/limited item will likely be excluded.

Now, as we've read, some associates have mistakenly allowed a PCE on a collection item, so you may find the same "mistake" if you ordered in store.

I say if you like it, get it! And if it is available for PCE during a Black Friday event, have your favorite SA make an adjustment!

If I reallllllly, reallllllly wanted the bag, and stock was less than 100 and I could order it now, and I had the means with which to buy it..I would buy it ASAP and just not worry about PCE, BUT...remember, my priorities are out of whack. ;)

Buy it now, don't use it. Wait for PCE, if available buy again with PCE and return the first one if unused. You're within the 60 day window or actually if FP is the same as the outlet, the holiday return policy is in effect.

What bag are you referring to?

Lucky crossbody in adobe (pinkish color).

+1

It sounds like it falls into the category of potentially regretting things not done, rather than things done.

stardustgirl and ineedcoffee ..... I *will* regret it if I miss it. That, as a simple statement, is an absolute truth. Which is why this is driving me nuts.

Is it a bag you could get and then get a price adjustment on when PCE comes out? Or will Coach even do that?

Price adjustments are only good for two weeks .... that's the thing .... this would go beyond that timespan.

As far as exclusions, my brain is thinking along the same lines as Tygriss. Even late November is not *that* long after the initial release. So yeah, I have the creepy feeling that these "collection" labeled bags would still be excluded.

I know a "typical" price adjustment wouldn't work, because that is limited to fourteen days. And that's part of what had been bothering me. I'd been debating --- "can I wait until two weeks before the pce, so that pce would still fall into the adjustment window?"

*BUT* ...... I hate to admit this, but the buy and return idea had not even occurred to me! I've never done it before, but that *would* work, wouldn't it.

I do have a good SA, and other good SAs at the boutique that know me as well. I don't usually do a lot of returns, but if I *would* end up buying one now, a second one with PCE, and then returning the first one (only after receiving the second one safely), they wouldn't really have room to complain because the second one would be ordered with an even larger PCE order. (I probably sound wimpy, don't I. I've just never done it before. But it *is* all legally within their policies. .... Do most SAs understand this sort of thing? Wimpy question, I know, but I'm genuinely asking.)

When it comes down to it though, yes, that is indeed within their policies. I do see the brilliance of it.

You are a good customer and you don't do many returns. I think if you brought it back to your SA and explained that you hadn't even used it yet, she would make an exception and do the price adjustment even though it was passed the time limit - or not give you any hassle about returning and rebuying. As you said, you would be acting within their policies.

Let's just say a well trained and knowledgeable SA would understand what is within their policies and how to best accommodate their clients. :)

You know, if I would end up returning the first and buying a second one with pce, the final order *would* be larger, if for no other reason than I "would find something" ( ;) ) to build the order to the 30% tier. Indeed, I already know what I would tack on. In the long run, the net purchase would be larger.

I need to grow a couple cajones and just do it, right? I already checked -- if I would order this tomorrow, then November 27th (Black Friday) would be day 44 of the 60 day return window. That would still give 16 days for the second bag to arrive safely, and me to do the return. I could even wait a couple days now, thus extending my window the same.

This helped ... bringing it to the board. I'm glad I did. :smile1: I think I'll call the boutique tomorrow.

I would call CS every few days to get count and then decide

I have done this and have ordered when a purse was in the single digits because I just had to have it

I actually might use that technique as a way to "extend" my 60 day window of return, to give an extra cushion around the PCE time. Delaying my order for a few days now, as long as I'm careful, would guarantee a nice cushion time if I have to return at PCE.

I *am* getting it, one way or the other, because as you phrased it, I do "just have to have" this one. I specifically want it as part of my Christmas. (It will amuse mother-in-law, but yeah well.)

Well that was insanely easy. I called my SA this morning, and she agreed completely with the plan as gr8onteej laid out above.

Bag is ordered. When pce comes (and she says there is indeed a pce coming at black friday), then *if* the bag is not excluded, and if it's still in stock, we'll order a second one, then return the first when second arrives.

And the window issue is now gone .... as of 10/9 (a few days ago), all purchases made now can be returned up to Jan 14. So there we go! :smile1: I'm happy! :D
