Girls I'm still confused!

I've had to wait a long long time now for two pear shaped diamonds to come in so I could look at the colour/shape and pick one to make the pear with one row of diamonds custom necklace...

... I don't know why but now that I've had all this time to think part of me is looking at the soleste pendants again (cushion with 2 halos)! Maybe partially because it's cheaper and easier (no stress about whether they get it "right" or not)...

... sigh. I know everyone here overwhelmingly chose pear for a pendant. Am wondering why Tiffany's made it a cushion when so many people seem to prefer pear!

I know I know... not such a bad problem to have right? It's just that I'm not a zillionaire by any stretch and this is a reallllly big purchase for me. I've never been into Rolexes or expensive watches so this is my big "thing" and of late I've become totally in love with yellow diamonds  and reallllly want one special piece. I just don't want to screw it up! I feel all turned around.

I wish I lived in NY and could go visit their extensive collection/the design dept. in person every day until I decided. As it is I have to study the piddly little selection in our 2 stores (I guess I should be glad we have two!) to decide... maybe I'm being greedy trying to make my own and should just choose one that Tiffany's has already made. I mean how special does it have to be before I'm just being ridiculous?

Does anyone like the cushion soleste necklace better than a pear shape?

Thanks for listening... I feel like a spoiled little girl even stressing about this but just want to get it right. :shame: Going to visit the pear diamonds tomorrow...

To me, where you are still kind of all over the place, I don't think you should go custom. You obviously LOVE Tiffany's and their designs, so I would stick with what they chose to put on the market, like the cushion soleste, and then when one makes your heart sing, buy it!

If you go custom, and you don't end up happy, you'll have no recourse and will have spent a lot of money.

I would also like to predict that you'll eventually end up with a watch. :graucho:

Jen, go with your heart. I originally chose the pear because I love that shape for a necklace, but I am also a huge lover of all gems cushion shaped. if the custom idea is worrying you instead of exciting you then try on the cushion soleste necklace. like I said before a SA at yorkdale had it on in a tiny size and it was so sparkly!
btw i'm the same as you, I would never spend a chunk of money on a watch .....dont tell anyone because I work for a swiss watch company LOL!!

Buy the cushion now, bring it home and see how you like it, you have 30 days to bring it back... that way you can have it in your house, try it on everyday, and if your still thinking about the pear, you can return it and proceed with the custom job.....

great idea:smile1: and buy the cushion in a comparable size to the pear so you can accurately judge which one you would like.

All good advice... thanks to all who responded so far!

LOL... I'm not a big watch fan for myself, but a friend had a vintage Cartier tank on today with a brown leather strap and wow... so pretty! If a watch ever gets me it'll be that one!

Going tomorrow to see the pears and hopefully see some solestes there as well... will update! And see if I can sneak some pics! ;)

I wouldn't recommend going custom. Everything I've ever had custom made never turned out how I imagined it in my mind. Plus you're usually stuck with custom made orders and cannot return it.
