I've been intrigued by this, but I'm still unsure about whether it is going to be worth it or not. In looking at the new features on apple's website, it doesnt look like there are too many features that the average user would really need....a few conveniences, but other than that, I'll wait to see what everyone else thinks of it before taking the plunge.

I believe this 10.6 release is actually more performance oriented, than giving the avg user more features.

I personally like the smaller OS footprint.

I'm a fairly new Mac user, since last April. So I'm not sure if I should get it or not? What happens if I don't, are there any disadvantages?

I had thought it was going to be more expensive to upgrade, but for only $29 to gain some efficiency, why not? I live very close to a place where I can pick it up tomorrow, so I intend to.

I just installed the update on all my Macs. I didn't really notice a difference. Its definitely more of a behind the scenes update but it did free up about 5gbs which is awesome to me.
