I live in the SF Bay Area and this is the third time I am reading about 10 to 11 people rushing into Louis Vuitton (the latest was in Union Square/Neiman Marcus) and smashing and grabbing bags and jumping into getaway cars. They are estimating the thieves got about $100k worth of merchandise. The same happened about a month ago in the South Bay for about the same amount. Shoplifting and these types of smash and grabs have just gotten more common. Especially in SF because there are no consequences with the DA there. I saw someone commented online, "Who cares, Louis Vuitton is a billionaire", as if he were still alive. But I just think of myself and this forum..how hard we all work for these bags...and how many of us end up on Ban Island because we have morals and PAY for them! Do you have the same kind of crime sprees in your towns? It just makes me see red.

we had this happen here in charlotte, NC at the gucci store which is right across from the louis store at my mall. there's like a big center sitting area and four hallways of the mall branch off this center area where the four corner stores are burberry, tiffany's, louis, and gucci. it's scary that people are getting so brazen and bold!! it's not exactly an easy exit from this area of the mall - the thieves had to have run out through a department store because there is no other immediate exit. i always think about this when i am in that area of the mall! it happened just a month or two ago i think! i hope all of you continue to shop in safety and good health! sad we even have to think about this.

I saw the video a few weeks ago. California is going down the drain. It's enraging that people are allow to shoplift up to $950 and walk away with no arrests or conseguences, while we at the cash registers are counting our pennies to honestly purchase our stuff. Same thing in LA, you always have to watch your back. We inherited your Gascon. Lots of the younger people perpetrating these crimes have no moral values and politics + permittive society is encouraging this behavior.

I agree. Since I posted this, two more incidents in LA. A Rite-Aid worker shot and killed trying to prevent shoplifter and two guys walked calmly out of. T.j. Maxx, to their parked car, with their arms loaded with merchandise. Newsom apparently has a bill out to try to deal with this, but it seems the only consequences are for workers who try to stop these thieves.

Yep. Unfortunately Newsom doesn't know what he's doing. Very recently he announced inviting homeless from out of state to purse the California dream...
