Love the look of the Sloan, but wonder if the closure on the bag is difficult to use? Anybody have an opinion on that? It looks like a bag that must be kept closed and I wounder if it is hard to deal with the clasp? Thanks for any info!!

I have the original MK Sloan Satchel which is a turn lock. No issues at all. I don't imagine the new one would be a problem. What I like about that type of closure is it really secures the bag. I am sure it is quicker to pop that open than to tug on a zipper, for instance. You just squeeze the sides of the latch and it pops open. I have them on a couple of my other bags that are not MK and they are pretty fast and easy to open.

Here is a pic of one of my Sloans. I have one in black and one in luggage. This one so many compartments on it. I like it way better than the newer models. It has a huge outside pocket on the back and two more outer pockets on each side which is great for quick access. The Sloan is oone of my favorite MK bags. The leather is amazing on this bag!
This is my model, Suzie! lol!

Your bag is gorgeous, but the Sloan bag I see online is quite different. It is a small flap bag that looks alot like a Chanel, with quilted pattern on the leather.

Yes, as I stated , mine is the original version. I did comment to your question about the closure of the one you are looking at, above the pics.MK changes the look of a style completely and I could never figure that out! lol! I know which one you are referring to. The closure should be fine. As I stated, I have that closure on other bags and it is great!

I did have the one you're talking about. The closure was a bit of a pain, but what I had the most trouble with was putting too much in the bag. Even when I pared down what I carried, it seemed like my stuff was putting too much stress on the leather. I'm tempted by it, once again, but remembering the issues I had before is stopping me. But it's just so gorgeous, lol!

As for MK 'changing the look of a style', I don't feel they do that. I feel they just reuse names.

Thanks for the info ladies. Yup, it is drop dead gorgeous. Am considering it for an occasional use bag - but still cautious. So pretty though!

Are you referring to the newest model that is much smaller than the original? The original just had the turn lock. The new one has the things you squeeze on the sides, right? .Because the original was pretty large. This newer one is quite a bit smaller.
Reuse names? Huh, I wonder what the future Selma will look like? lol!

I meant to quote you. The new one. Which they also had about a year and a half ago. I told wei "I did have the one you're talking about". I think wei knew which one I'm talking about.

lol! ok,I got confused since you didn't quote who you were responding to. Most of us quote each other so we know whom we are responding to, as seen here in my reply to you. . Sorry for my confusion.

I have it and I love it. It is a bag that does need to stay closed, since the chain pulls from the top. The clasp takes some getting used to open- it's not the most access-friendly handbag that I have.... But it looks amazing.

It also doesn't have the storage capacity as some other bags either. If it it slightly overstuffed it takes more effort for the lock to click and it makes the top flap not sit right... I had to downsize, and I don't carry a lot!!!

So I have a coach wristlet for coupons, receipts, etc. and Glasses cleaner. The I have my card case with credit cards and id, pouch from a bracelet that holds my lipsticks and nail file. Both key rings go on top of the pouch.

I had a larger cosmetic pouch with a comb, pens, blot powder, concealer, and whatnots... but it was too big. [emoji20]

Does your Sloan's flap lay flat to the bag or do the handles pull it up slightly giving it a triangular look? I was planning on purchasing this bag, but the display model's flap was triangular instead of flat to the top of the bag.

It pulls up slightly. It's a heavy bag, and it's only supported through those holes in the top flap. HTH!
