Hello! I have been eyeing the Chanel slingbacks (beige and black) for some time now but hesitate to take the plunge. I am not sure I would wear them enough due to fear of ruining them because of my lifestyle (long commutes, cobbled stone sidewalks, trips to the park with the kids after work…). I have seen the Stuart Weitzman ones and while they are not the same I’m wondering if this would be a better choice for me. Has someone owned both pairs and can advise if there is a significant difference in terms of confort and durability? I feel that I’d wear the SW more as I’d be less worried about them being ruined. But at the same time I don’t want to invest on those to then regret it and end up buying the Chanel ones a year later… 🙈

I have owned both, and I do think that SW are more durable. In fact they wear like iron. But, they aren’t chanel. Can you get the SW on sale? But, having said that, I would go with whichever one is more comfy. If you decide on the Chanel’s, they can be taken to a cobbler and soled with rubber but sometimes this changes the fit a bit. You might want to try an experimental rubber sole with shoes you already own first. taps also help.

I wear a difficult shoe size to find and several years ago SW made many shoes in that size. They wore like iron and they were comfortable. Chanel shoes did not work for me so I can’t give an opinion on them. However, I do second @880 regarding a cobbler. They can extend the life of your shoes regardless of what brand you choose.

Years ago I had the most comfortable loafers from sw , was like walking on a cushioned cloud. I wore them till they fell apart.
Unfortunately for me, I don't find their shoes lately to have the same comfort and durability of those old ones.

No answer to the specific question but every year I purchase a pair of premium shoes for everyday wear. Makes me happy when I catch a glimpse of them. Wear and enjoy your beauties.

Yep. Totally agree. The two pairs of SW I bought in the last couple of years are still comfortable enough but nowhere near as comfy and durable as in the "old days" before he sold the company. My foot is on the wide side of medium and the SW loafers I bought last year did fit well out of the box, no breaking in needed. But, my SW boots and shoes from 12-15 years ago are in better shape than the loafers and the sandals I bought a couple of years ago. I think if you can get SW on a good sale, they're still worth it, but not at full price.
