Skinny belt discussions!

1- Can skinny belts function to hold jeans in place when you don’t want to wear a wider belt? Sometimes I cover with a shirt and don’t want a belt bulge.

2- For jeans with wider belt loops, skinny belts may shift around a little given there is more room. Is this look acceptable (see photo)

I don't wear belts at all because I dislike the added volume from them. The look is so so IMHO, I think the belt makes it looks sloppy. Acceptable of course, but worse than without the belt. I've never experienced a need to wear a belt for a functional reason, e.g. holding the pants, I just always tailor the wait and avoid belts.

The problem with the pic above "moving around" is because the belt is buckled on the tight side - closer to the woman's real waist (smallest circumference measurement).

If you do the belt up without 'cinching' or 'snatching', gravity will keep the belt towards the bottom of your belt loops and not the top.

I almost never wear a belt on jeans to help hold it up. Mostly because my jeans are fitted on the waist (whether by design or I got it tailored that way).
If I do wear a belt, it's for aesthetic purposes.
Agree with @papertiger. It looks off because it's on the tighter side. If it was a little looser it would sit lower, preferably in the middle. Of course, then it wouldn't be functional in the sense of holding the pants up. However, it would look better aesthetically.

Jeans aside, I love wearing a belt with pants/trousers. I think it helps complete my look.
Here are some out my ootds with belts.

Yesterday OOTD.
An outfit that had a jacket change for later that day.

Today’s ootd (for once I’m not wearing one of my white blazers lol)

Alright, Saturday’s ootd (yesterday), and I’m a homebody today on Sunday (aka home hobo). So I’ll stop spamming this thread lol.

Those are good points. However ive had the belt not cinched tightly and as I move during the day the buckle would start to move over left or right given the loops were wide. I don’t cinch tight or the jeans would bunch up.

Tailoring jeans so they fit in the waist and a belt can solely be an accessory is a game changer
That’s true, but I’ve always had a hard time jeans fitting me perfectly. It’s just my figure, that would get expensive having ALL my pants tailored. I don’t mind wearing belts, I like how they look with my outfits.
