So my husband recently bought me the Heart Link bracelet from Tiffany's. This is my first Tiffany's piece, so I'm unfamiliar with the whole sizing process. It was slightly too large for my wrist (this was the smaller, 7.5" size) and I needed to have it sized.
The woman at the service desk recommended that I only have one link taken out. My worry is that this is an
alternating link bracelet. That's what I liked about it and that's why we purchased it. How on earth are they going to only take out one link and keep the links alternating???
I was told that they had "done it before", but no one could tell me how exactly. I'm not feeling very reassured. If I get it back and they simply took out a link and two links are in the same direction, I kind of don't want it.
1. How would they size this while keeping the design intact?
2. Would they accept a return if it's sized in a way I don't find acceptable?

I know for a fact that once they alter a piece they will no longer return it. I have been through this before and they wont. As for the alternating links i would think they would have to take 2 hearts out.

That's good to know.
I called Repairs and they said they'll get back to me this afternoon. The person who answered couldn't tell me how they'd fix it, only that they had a way to do it "so it wasn't noticeable". He said he'd put a hold on it. I don't know if they started it yet. Probably not, because I dropped it off on the 6th, and the estimated delivery was December 24th.
For the price I paid versus what it's worth, they could craft me an entirely new bracelet by hand to fit my measurements and STILL make a profit.

Ok, I spoke with the repair department. They had told me that by taking out 1 link, it wouldn't lay the same, but it wouldn't be noticeable, since it would be on the bottom. I decided I didn't want it like that. With $9 worth of silver and $40 of gold in a $600 bracelet, if it's not exactly what I want, then I'd prefer to spend the money elsewhere.
I called Tiffany's and they were very gracious in refunding my order after I explained the scenario. I don't even have to take it back to the store. They'll have it shipped back to them directly from Repairs and refund my husband's credit card.
Thanks Cheryl, for letting me know they don't accept altered returns! I would have never been this proactive.
*big sigh of relief*
Now I just have to keep my husband from buying the watch he's had his eye on. Getting $600 put back in his pocket is going to make him want to spend it.

Aw Jan, i'm sorry your first Tiffany's experience has turned out like this. I hope there will be another piece that catches your eye in the future. I think that bracelet is GORG and i'd love to have it on my wishlist :-P
That is a beautiful bracelet. Congrats on getting your money back. I wonder if the alternating links were even numbers at 7.5" or if the first link was opposite of the last link? If that were the case would it work to take one link out? Sorry, just sort of wondering out loud. LOL
Thanks all! It is a pretty bracelet, I just wish it had fit.
I think it's all working out for the best, though. I returned the bracelet and now some extra bills have come our way. It's not fun spending the money on necessities, but what are you going to do?

At least we have the extra cash freed up, so our bank account won't feel a thing.
