Hi guys - I’m starting to notice a small hairline scratch on one of the motifs on my 10 motif yellow gold guilloche necklace from Van cleef. It doesn’t bother me as it’s at the back but for future reference does anyone one know if VCA will replace just one motif at a cost?

From what I have been told, for stones where there would be colour variations, all motifs would have to be replaced.
As guilloche is a uniform metal they should agree to just replace the one that is scratched — please do ask your SA and let us know what the response is!

I thought I read a while back when guilloche first came out that they couldn’t be replaced, but hopefully now that people have been wearing and scratching their guilloche (those photos of the bracelets next to the JUC and Love bracelets make me squirm at the scratches), maybe they will replace them but for much more than the stone price which is around $200 more or less. I’d love to know, bc I have a bracelet that has 3 Guilloches, so I’d wear it more if I knew they would in fact replace the motifs.
Yeah. Don’t even bother. Wear that thing for 5-7 years and let it get all scratched up. And since it’s a necklace it will be minimal compared to a bracelet. Then think about replacing if you’re not over it by then.
I know something like a tennis necklace layered with it will scratch (that’s how I got the first tiny one) but will other VCA necklaces or bezel set gemstones still scratch it?
Anything with a slightly rough surface can scratch it. Depends if hit or rubbed just right and it will scratch. Probably anything that will scratch a love bracelet will scratch it. Just think metal against metal. If you want loupe-level pristine don’t stack at all.
