hello fellow jewelry lovers,

i have fallen in love with a tiffany ring (pic below) but it is only available in sterling silver. now i have nothing against that, but it has diamonds in it... and i personally dont think silver and diamonds is a good match. for me, silver is a fun type of material, but diamonds are precious... i would have no prob with it if it was diamonds and white gold... what do you guys think??

Silver is also considered a precious metal; it is less costly than gold or platinum for sure! I like it for fun designs or designs that would cost the universe in gold.
Personally, I think that particular ring is overpriced. I love the Somerset collection, but would get the ring without the diamonds.

i know its overpriced =( but i just loooove it! i saw it on my friend and the diamonds just made it look so much better. the plain band is too plain in my opinion

Well, if you love it then the price really doesn't matter. The joy you will get from it will be worth the price. :)
I want the Cartier Love Bangle and I know that I'm going to paying out the nose for the name, but you love what you love!
Would love to see modelling pics if you get it!

i have the same sentiments as you do, that diamonds and silver dont really go together. HOWEVER, if you like the ring, i say go for it! and the fact of the matter is, is that the silver color still blends well with the diamond, so you're not taking away from it's sparkle or anything. as to say, yellow or rose gold, which sometimes will reflect a gold cast on the diamond.

Im a manufacturer of jewelry and one hot item we are processing is sterling with diamonds:tup: it's mainly the price of gold and the fall in luxury purchases that this type of thing happens. People want to buy pretty things but in the economic crisis we are in just can't afford it so designers try to come up with more affordable alternatives for the public. I have some pieces in my collection and love them:yes:

i have some smaller silver pieces with diamonds in it. i got a lot for christmas from my uncles and aunts this past year mostly pendants. i have no problem if they are necklaces i think they are very cute and a cheaper alternative for sure.

I agree, but if you love it and there is no other alternative that is similar, if you can afford it, why not?

Personally, I have some silver and diamond things and I like them very much.

I agree. Silver does not pair well w/ diamonds in my opinion. Especially since silver will tarnish over time. I have the Tiffany's heart mesh ring..and the grooves inbetween tarnished over time - and it's impossible to clean. Perhaps, you can go for the plain mesh ring instead? Just a thought. :smile1:

Anything you see in stores with silver and diamonds is overpriced. Silver costs nothing and diamonds that size cost next to nothing. Charge a few hundred, and they've made themselves a profit.

If you like the ring, then either suck up the silver woes, or contract a jeweler to make you one from gold. Although keep in mind, Tiffany's is a well known brand, and even if it is only silver, there's something to be said about having a Tiffany's ring.
