Silly Pronunciation Question

How do you pronounce Botkier? I heard an SA say Bah-ti-ker. Is that right?

I say "bot-key-air" where bot sounds like the end of 'robot'. I think I read that elsewhere on TPF. I forget!

That's what I say. I emailed them once and asked them, and that's how they said to pronounce it (it was driving me crazy not to know, even though it's not a word I have the need to say very often!)

A sommelier is pronounced suh-mal-'yAy, so it would seem that Botkier would be pronounced bot-key-'yAy. But I have always said bot-key-'air.

But Botkier is apparently not a French name, which is why Bot-key-air is correct.
