Shouldn't an old rarely used LV have Patina?

Depends on how it was stored. If it was stored in a cool, dark place it could have minimal patina. Light, heat and use are what cause patina.
even if a bag is never used and kept in its dustbag it will patina over time =/ sucks right? i had a sonatine clutch i bought awhile ago and i used it like 2xs and forgot about it in my closet. the vachetta handles were pure white, like new, and when i took it out recently i was expecting the same white handles, but u cant beat time. the vachetta had slight patina on them. theyre a nice honey color now which i dont mind. some ppl dont like the whiteness of the vachetta so theyll purposely tan them!

I have this one Vernis bag that has been stored in a cool, dark closet pretty much ever since my mom got it (it's just too small) and it has NO patina at all. I think it's from like, 2003/2004 also.

You could get it authenticated in the Authentication thread...if you are concerned it may not be genuine.
