While pondering my future Speedy purchase on eluxury I see they offer straps as well. I was wondering if any of you ladies have attached a shoulder strap and if so where on the purse would you put it?

I used to own a Mono strap for my Mono Speedys but I sold it.

It attaches to the handle hardware - one end on each side of the bag. So that means that you clip one end to the front or back piece of hardware on one side, and the other end on the opposite hardware on the other side. Does that make sense?

I didn't like it with the strap on. IMO it detracted from the elegant lines of the Speedy being handheld or on the crook of the arm.

I have the long adjustable cowhide strap that I use on both my mono Speedy 25 and Alma and I love it. I clip it the same way -- one to front handle and one to back opposite handle -- and it hangs beautifully. I actually like using it with the Speedy more than the Alma (even though the Alma is actually "supposed" to be used with the strap, unlike the Speedy) because the Alma is so much bigger than my Speedy 25. I prob wouldn't use it on a Speedy 30 though, as that's a much bigger bag.

In the few brief days when I had my stinky Mandarin Speedy I also used the matching Mandarin strap, and I liked it just as much. My opinion is that if you like it and it works for you, why not? LOL

I have the mono shoulder strap for my mono Speedy and it was a good investment!

Although I do generally carry my Speedy as a handheld bag...there are times when I am out shopping or whatever and I need my hands free, so I just sling the bag over my shoulder. I don't think it detracts from the look of the bag at all. I almost always have it on my bag but sometimes I do carry it without. I think the strap makes a perfect bag even more perfect as it gives you options.

I did, and if you go through the archives, I posted pics with it. I bought a strap, my lv store said it would work with it..took it home and thought I liked it but everyone said it looked stupid...then I called LV direct and they said the speedy does not have the hardware designed to accomodate it safely. it would wreck the bag. I think the alma has extra hardware to hold a strap, the speedy does not and they did not recommend I use it..so I returned it. hope this helps

I've used the strap on my Speedy since 1998 and it hasn't damaged a thing.

It's true that it wasn't specifically designed for a strap...but it's fairly common practice. I've never heard of it damaging a bag.

It tend to look very "wrong", as the speedy is a 100% hand held bag. Do a search in the archives, and there are countless threads on this subject.

I thought I would like it but it looks stupid. The strap makes it hang really low and as another posted put it, it looks like a ball on a string. if you want a shoulder bag, look into the BH that is a great bag.

nah. that looks akward in my opinion..............but: on almas, etc it can look very very nice indeed.
but the speedy, imo, is a total handheld bag!
