Well, I don't tend to go anywhere near the north end of the strip when I go to Vegas, and here is why...
When I was younger, I think I had just turned 21 that week, my fiance at the time and I went to Vegas with his parents. His parents booked us at the Stratosphere, and we were pretty young and broke at the time so we were happy to just be there! Well, the first night we were there, we were sitting downstairs at some penny slots near one of the exits, and I had my Coach bag sitting on the ground next to me. A cocktail waitress came up to me, grabbed my bag, and set it on my lap. She explained that we were on the north end of the strip which is less populated with hotels and closer to the not so savory neighborhoods of LV that are near to the strip. She told me that there had been several instances where people from these unsavory neighborhoods (or wherever) had ran in through the casino doors, gabbed the bags of women who left them on the floor near their feet, and ran out with them! After that, I never stayed near the north end of the strip again. The north end has the older hotel/casinos - Stratosphere, Riviera, Circus Circus, etc. The newer, nicer hotel/casinos are all toward the middle/south end of the strip.
Idk, anyhow, sorry for the incredibly long post. Bottom line is, again, take your LV and wear it with pride - enjoy it! You run no more risk of getting robbed in Vegas than you do anywhere else. You have to be careful anywhere you go these days.
That's just common sense not to just place your purse near your feet in a very public place where people just walk around.

OP, you'll be fine in LV. It's full of designer bags.
