Hi ladies,

I’d really appreciate some advice on a bag I’ve seen for sale on Facebook marketplace. Long story short, my dream Chanel bag is the easy flap bag that I believe was only produced in 2014, and one has just come up for sale for $4000. My question is, should I just go for it, knowing that a large chunk of my savings will go towards the bag, or should I wait and save up specifically for one even though it might be a while before another one comes up? I tend to be very cautious with my money and I don’t want to make a bad decision that I may later regret, but at the same time these bags don’t come up for sale very often.

If anyone has any advice that would be much appreciated! Xx

I owned this bag and paid retail when it came out - I think I paid 3600? Close to that amount. When I sold it about a year later to Fashionphile it was like new and I was offered $1400. I think Yoogiscloset offered about the same. I would only buy this bag used and not pay anywhere near 4k.
It’s AUD$4000, which is about what I’ve seen them go for here. It’s definitely pricey but unfortunately not exorbitant for Australia.

Being a saver, I just couldn’t hand over “a large chunk” of my savings on one bag. If an emergency comes up, you won’t be able to easily liquidate the bag to get cash.

If I were you, I wouldn’t buy anything I didn’t need til I had at least 6 months living expenses cash savings. Bags will always be around. Peace of mind and resources in a pinch are so much more important.
