I know there are numerous “should I sell” threads over the years, so I’m sorry in advance for cluttering the feed!!

I, completely on a whim, bought a fuchsia trendy WOC 2 years ago. I have worn it exactly three times. It has stayed in the box for probably 18 months now.

Part of me thinks I should sell it. Not because I will be buying something else, but because I don’t use it. It’s just taking up space in my closet. Obviously I COULD use it in the future...time would tell.

Part of me thinks I could keep it, with the offhand chance that I WOULD use - and/or could gift it to my niece when she is old enough (she’s 7). But, who knows if she would even want it in 10 years?!

Any thoughts? I know it’s my decision to make...just would like some advice! Thank you!!

Hello.. You should sell. First, you purchased on a "whim" and already thinking selling it. It's not a bad thing. I know the guilt is a killer as I've done this many times.

Waiting to hand down to someone in 10 years is not realistic. When your niece reaches 17, she might not appreciate the WOC. I have a friend who has designer bags/shoes. She thought her daughter would appreciated these things.. Nope, her daughter is more "tom boy-ish" and thinks designer clothing/bags/shoes is a joke.

I'm not saying this will be the case of our niece. Look at the trends of generation "z" and millennials, they don't care about the same stuff as we do..

Exactly the kind of advice I needed -THANK YOU!!!

Maybe you just didn't use it b/c of the pandemic? You have used it before so maybe you'll pick it up again. Try using it for a week or two and if you still don't love it, let it go. Saving it for someone else isn't a good idea, who knows what your niece will want or be like in 10-12 years.

I agree with the above posts.
Although, i do agree you should sell it and not wait to gift it, but you should instead wear it out more regularily and use it as your main bag for a good month, two or three and if you still feel like you lost that spark with your bag then its time to sell it.
Who knows, you might just fall in love with it again and get those reasonable initial reactions you felt that brought you to buying it on a whim.
These bags arent cheap, yes they are over priced and the worse thing someone can do is spend alot of money on something you arent sure about later, selling it, and not getting the same value back that you paid for it. At the end of the day, you are still losing money.

if this is the bag you have:

The color is stunning!

Best of luck!

Yes, the pandemic probably had a lot to do with it. I work in healthcare and have literally worn scrubs, exercise clothes, and pajamas for a year!!!

I ended up selling my WOC because like you, I just never used it. I found my mini to be much more functional and useful. But that being said, once I thought I might sell it, I gave the bag a chance. I tried to use it several times on multiple occasions to make sure that I was intent on selling it.

Totally agree. Also to add - saving something for someone will have more weight and more meaning if it was a favorite loved item of yours rather than one you never used. For example if my mom had a Chanel clutch that she only used for special occasions and she loved it and it was her fav and then I got it, yes I would love it more than something she just got and never used. Just my thought. I thought the same way once upon a time but kids and generations are different. I say save it if you really love it. If not sell it off and enjoy the thing you love.

I have a 2.55 that I love using all the time and hopefully could be passed on to my daughter one day *only if* she wants it. However, I wouldn’t keep a bag just for the sole purpose of passing it on. It might be better to sell and get something you love using more often. Hope that helps
