Should I sell my Chanel 19 for a Celine Triomphe?

Most people might say it’s my money/decision but would be great to hear some pros and cons from another perspective. I kind of see them as two different styles so in the end might just have both. However, I have a hint that I would use Celine more as an everyday, but at a risk that I might run into more ladies with the same bag. Thoughts?

Interestingly, I have the opposite impression - I see Chanel 19 being carried on the streets way more often than the Triomphe, in fact I don't think I've ever seen anyone carry the Triomphe IRL

I agree that the different styles justifies keeping both, since 19 is more of a casual bag whereas the Triomphe is a more formal/academia-looking option.

I’ve never seen anyone carry the Celene but have seen the 19.

IMO the 19 is not going to have style staying power. Sooner rather than later the puffy, lots o’ chains trend will be out. The Celene looks like a work of art and likely is better quality. I would vote Celine.

One more vote for the Celine. It's a much cleaner, more classic design than the Chanel 19 (which I've never liked much, if I stop and think about it). I think you would wear the Triomphe, whereas the 19 might wear you.

I like the Celine very much. The 19 just looks like most of the other floofy poofy chain bags about at the moment.

I’d use both and find them different enough to justify having both in my collection. Would you be selling the Chanel just to fund the Celine? If so, you might regret it. Now, if you have fallen out of love with the Chanel and/or don’t find it functional for your lifestyle, that’s a different story.

I like the Celine better but I wonder about wear and tear and whether it would keep it's value (if that's a concern for you) just because it reminds me of the box bag and I've read inconsistent things about it. If you are going to let go of the 19, I would think about the bag in isolation, not in comparison to the Celine because every bag has it's pros and cons and decide if there are real dealbreakers that you don't like about the 19.

To answer your question: YES. I feel that the Triomphe bag is timeless, and will look good tomorrow, next year, and fifty years from now. The 19, on the other hand, is the height of modern trend (which means you can command a pretty penny at resale), but--in my opinion--will look dated in a decade's time.
