Should I sell my bags?

Hi ladies!
I need your opinions please! I have a older Bayswater oak, regular Alexa in oak, Somerset dispatch satchel in oak and Lily in oak (can you tell I just love oak? )

I have always just loved the look of well used Bayswater and I was really happy when I finally managed to buy one! I love how it looks and feels, but I don’t use it very often. Mainly because I am more of a crossbody - type of girl and find it a bit annoying to carry a bag in my hands. Also I find it to be a bit too ”formal” since my style is very casual.

My Alexa is almost perfect for me! It’s casual, it has a long strap, the size is perfect, but I don’t like the soft Buffalo as much as nvt and the front straps with magnetic closure are sometimes annoying. And sometime I feel like this bag has too much of straps and buckles.

My Somerset is also great! It’s a bit bigger than Alexa but smaller than Bays. It has a long strap and I kind of like the simple look, although it’s a bit masculine and I can’t imagine wearing it with dresses like Alexa.

The Lily I haven’t used almost at all. It’s too small for work and nowadays that’s the only place I go

So I’ve been thinking of selling some bags, but can’t make up my mind about it. Two times I have taken the salephotos of Alexa, Bays and Somerset but then I start to hesitate. My head says sell, because none of them are perfect 10/10, but my heart says keep them all because they are beautiful and I find them all useful at least occasionally.

Any advice? Should I just put them in storage and see if I start to miss them? And if not then sell? Should I just try to use each one on a dailybase and see if it feels right? What would you do?E6E5E2E3-89DE-413E-86C8-128BAD23DED5.jpeg3449C7E6-006E-4D2C-BDB7-30A1A1EC47C8.jpeg3542CB17-1856-46B3-BEDA-C626D0788597.jpeg

I sold my Lily and Bayswater last year as I wasn’t reaching for them and I regret it hugely!

My advice is to not sell anything at the moment (unless you need the money from the sale), and instead wait until your daily routine comes back. Then keep them for six months and make yourself use them.

When you use them think of the pros and cons of the bag and base it off that!

That’s my new plan to stop me regretting any sales!

Generally, I'd say there's no point in keeping something in your closet that you don't wear or intend to wear in the future. But you seem to really love your Mulberry bags. I think the Bayswater is quite casual, as are the other two bags, especially in this lovely color. Not too formal at all! Lack of a strap is an issue, though, I understand. I wear all of my bags crossbody or on the shoulder too. But all of those bags can certainly be worn with dresses (not formal ones, of course, just everyday ones,) jeans & t-shirts, or jeans & loose-fitted shirts/tops.

I don't know exactly how well Mulberry bags do on the resale market, but I'm guessing not great? So if you bought them new, I imagine you'd lose quite a substantial amount of money if you were to sell them. Perhaps the Alexa would bring more because of the relaunch. So I'd say, unless you need the money, don't sell them. Perhaps try wearing one for a couple of days, and if you for some reason really feel like you don't enjoy it, or would rather wear some other handbag that is close to it but has some different features that make it more suitable for your lifestyle, then let go of it.

I think lots of us are having this dilemma at the moment! Having a nice bag (or ten) doesn’t feel quite as useful when we’re mostly stuck at home. On the upside, mulberry resale values seem to be rising again after being stagnant for a while and good quality classic used bags like yours are going for fair prices.

I would say - definitely don’t sell 2/3 bags at once because that might lead to big regrets, but perhaps store one and see if you miss it?

My approach has been to carry the bag I am considering parting with to help remind me why I do or do not like how it functions. I recently (over the last two months) parted with 5 Mulberry bags that I had not carried in years and when I carried them as a test, it became an easy decision. Also what made it very easy was that I sent them off to their next lives through Mulberry Exchange, and now I have enough to buy a brand new Mulberry when the next one says “take me home!”

Great idea. Thanks for sharing.
