I think you’ve written your concerns as including, but not limited to the following:
hard to style
too bright in color
what to wear with it
partner says it’s horrible and tacky
so, given the above concerns, if you can return, I would suggest doing so. However, you’ve written this post which would suggest you might like reasons to keep, so. . .
my opinion of the bag is that it’s not my style personally, mainly bc of the hardware embellishment. However, pros: it’s a classic rectangular shape and small size (which is fashionable now). People also seem to like GHW these days. The short shoulder drop gives it a retro vibe like a
Fendi baguette. The embellishment on the chain makes it seem more feminine. The pop of pink, IMO is easier for different complexions to wear than a pinky nude or a coral. The piping and rounded corners are nicely done. Cons: while the overall silhouette does remind me of a
Fendi baguette @1990s, the bag body makes me think of a more retro look, not sure why; the clasp reminds me of Hermes ridged cadena or ridged belt buckle; but, the strap hw of LV crossed with something else, perhaps a nod to the combo chain leather of the new lock bag done by Dior (and many others) a few years ago. The piping references
coach. The overall effect is a bag for a younger person, primarily bc of the saturated pink plus ghw, but then again I’m 53. YMMV
My advice on the buying/ decision process. it may be helpful for you to articulate what you like about the bags you already have before a new purchase. For example, here is mine: first and foremost, SHW or PHW. Limited brand; neutral bag colors; medium size; classic silhouette; not too deep, not too short a shoulder drop esp if the bag is small or delicate. conversely, if it’s crossbody, not too long or has to be adjustable. I do make exceptions: for example, I like clutches in smooth leather. I also know ahead what types of leather and structure (relaxed or rigide) I will accept for a certain type of bag. If I try something new, I ask myself whether the item in question fits most of these super arbitrary categories I’ve designed for myself. The right bag purchase should not elicit second thoughts. You know when you know. I try hard not to second guess or overthink once I buy. JMO of course!
please keep us updated on your decision!
