Should I be worried...?

I recently sold a bag after relisting it for the 3rd time. Someone bid at the last minute and won the auction. I checked their feedback, she has over 100 positive ffeedbacks but they are set to private so I cannot go in and see the comments, what they've bought, etc. So i sent out the invoice, and she paid a couple of hours later thru paypal with an echeck. I emailed her and let her know that according to paypal, it will take several days for the echeck to clear and I'll ship out the bag as soon as that happens. She did not reply. So far I've never gotten any emails or msgs from the buyer at all. Then I saw that their shipping address is a PO box so I don't think I can get signature confirmation when I ship out the item (correct me if I'm wrong). So in short, this is the first time I'm selling to someone who has private feedbacks, paid with an echeck and the shipping address is a PO box and I'm kinda worried. Do I have any reason to be..??

Any thoughts will be appreciated! Thanks!!

I think with USPS and signature confirmation, to a PO Box, a notice is left in the box, and most likely they will have to pick it up in person at the PO to sign for it. (Just like if a sig. req'd package comes to your home and you're not there to sign for it.) If your buyer is not so chatty, I wouldn't worry so much about that. Just keep the buyer updated, ie., your echeck has cleared, mailing tomorrow, etc. I would be sure to add insurance. I think it's courteous and considerate to respond to a seller's emails, but evidently not everyone feels that way. The only thing I really know for sure, is you can only ship USPS to PO boxes, no UPS or Fedex.

Be super sure the echeck has cleared before sending out the bag! You can send Signature Confirmation delivery through USPS(be sure to insure it too). It is kind of a red flag about the private feedback; have you tried checking through www.toolhaus.org?

She paid, she has good feedback (private yes, but still good), and she has a PO Box. None of these amounts to a cause for concern. I use a PO Box for all regular mail, and when I buy from Ebay I do have to sign for a sig confirmation delivered package.

So, you have a paying buyer on your hands. She isn't required to write you back when you email; many people are busy and don't respond to every email, so long as the deal is on track, which it is. And you can ship in a way that protects you. No problems.

I had done some research on this before, and learned that private feedback is pretty standard for "adult" items, so that the world doesn't have to know what that person is up to in their spare time! :busted Obviously there are other ways that PF is used and abused, but it might also simply be an understandable matter of privacy and discretion. Just a thought. I hope it works out for you!

Oh boy, that's a good one -- buying shady porn-type stuff on ebay and THAT is why they have private FB????:nuts::nuts:. The other thing is I have heard they don't want their husband, mother in law, etc., to know how much they are spending and/or on what. All this in addition to scammers and cheats putting their FB private so no one can see what crooked stuff they are up to. Note that the negs go away on ebay after a few months. But you can check toolhaus (www.toolhaus.org). It is fine with me as a seller, whatever the reason for their private FB: as long as they pay with legitimate means and have a confirmed PP address. Do let us know how this turns out. Hope that echeck clears OK, but don't send anything out until it does.

Another reason for private feedback: Trying to get better prices :P

I have an account that I solely use for buying and I feel that I get better prices when making offers if my feedback is private. If it's public I often have the feeling that sellers are trying to up the the price (I'm talking about Best Offers now, btw) if they see that I have a history of designer items :Push:

Some people are more private than others, and some people are more nosy than others. So it's not surprising to see private feedbacks on Ebay, although in some cases it's a bad sign. There's nothing to worry about because you won't send the bag until the echeck clears, and there's nothing wrong with a POBox because with signature confirmation the buyer has to sign to get the package. In a way it's much safer.
