i can't believe that necklace is 390.00 i think i paid 250.00 for it in like 2000.

i guess.. it is a long time ago.

but.. yeah.. i don't see any reason not to do it.. it would be a unique tiffany necklace.

your other options are selling on ebay... or at least selling the heart part on ebay and gettin a little bit of cash.

i say.. go for it.

I have the silver toggle necklace (the 2nd link), I love it & wear it all the time. I think altering it so you can wear it would be okay. Right now you are not getting any use out of it, at least you would get to wear it if altered.

Yes, have Tiffany remove the heart charm from your current necklace but have them close up the jump ring on the charm so that you can use the charm on a thinner chain or add it to your keychain.

Yes, I think if you are going to wear it without the heart then definitely remove it. I actually prefer it without the heart personally.

peace43, what a great idea!!

Thanks! is there any difference between the regular Toggle Necklace and the Toggle Necklace minus the Heart. They look really similar to me (and are both 16"), but I could be missing something.

If you are not wearing it now, it is no use to you. I would remove the heart, besides it's just attached with a jump ring, so it won't damage the heart or the necklace to remove the charm, and you can always change your mind later.

I think you should remove the heart, but have the ring closed so you can use it on a thinner pendant.

I have the same necklace, but I adore hearts (even at my old age)!

I can't believe the price jump either; I think I paid $275 a few years ago.

go for it! it is defintely better to use something you have instead of it sitting in a drawer not seeing the light of day!! using the heart for a pet is a great idea!!! or a keychain...or you can give it to a close friend to wear on a thin necklace (since it's probably not "you" to wear it even by itself if you dont like it now)...

Just to let you know, there is a difference between the two necklaces.
With the heart toggle, the links are bigger. The toggle necklace has smaller links. That makes the toggle bit stand out more and look like a pendant. If you remove the heart, it may not look as good as the original toggle necklace. How about adding other charms on the necklace to sort of take attention away from the heart? A key perhaps? Or remove the heart and add a new charm. :D
