Hello, I am wondering if there is anyone who tried to shorten a canvas shoulder strap before?

I got an 105cm one for a color-way which I adorn but it is a bit too long for wearing one shoulder. I went to H store but SA told me it is impossible to shorten a canvas strap. I tried for exchange but SA told me he has never seen this color-way in shorter version. So I was planning to do some DIY.

I bought a strap adjuster and wrapped a twilly around the overlapped area... what do you think about this?

Is there any smarter way to shorten the strap? Since it is 105cm ideally I would like to keep the length for flexibility...

Your DIY looks adorable! That said, many tPF'ers have had their solid color canvas straps shortened by Hermes. Is it just because this is a "special" strap that they can't shorten it?

That is what I thought too, Hermes should be able to shorten the canvas strap! When I got it from Japan, the SA told me it is can shorten too and it's a free service. However, it will take 4 months so I didn't do it.

After I came back to HK, I called the Hermes HK office and the lady there told me it is impossible to shorten a canvas strap (she did not mention the reason) and only leather strap can be modified. She also told me "that's why hermes produces strap in different length".

I'm confused - you want to shorten the strap, but want to "keep the length for flexibility"?

I have shortened Evelyne PM straps - it's very easy and I don't see why any other canvas strap should be different. The leather strap end is unstitched and goes back over the cut end. Looks like the strap was made that way.

MINIKIKI HK from Etsy has the sam pattern strap that can be custom made for any length you want.
I ordered a shorter strap for my evelyne mini, it cost around $58 with shipping
She send me this pic on Etsy
