Going on a kinda of last minute trip to Amsterdam and Brussels/Brugge at month end. Looking forward to the trip as it will be a while till my next holiday but was just wondering what the Hermes stores are like in the respective cities.

Any update on inventory would be appreciated. I already have a kelly and evelyn but am looking to add a birkin, farandole(120cm) and the brown/rouge garrance belt to my collection. :yahoo:

Also any SAs to recommend? I tend to get ignored in shops as I look like a kid and really dress down during holidays. Appreciate any help on this. :D

P.S: Holiday ideas also please.

Hi
The Brussels store has quite good inventory and the staff are very friendly. I think communicating your love for the Maison can't hurt and perhaps if the H angels smile on you, you might find a Birkin. The store has an exhibition space behind it which will probably have an ongoing event as interesting as the glass of the space itself. Avenue Louise also has stores eg Chanel a few doors down. Try Pierre Marcolini for the chocs and pastries, and have some waffles and frites while you stroll around town. I don't think there is a store in Brugge. Try Antwerp and Knokke.

Amsterdam has a slightly smaller store but you can find some gems there like older scarves etc and prob the Farandole. Note that the Dutch are tall so they gen order 35 Birkins. They are unlikely to show you one if you are not a regular, but once they do, getting a PO is possible. The store is on a street full of designer stores and near a large park which is good for a respite and some apple pie! I generally rather not recommend the red-light district or 'coffee houses' as it is a cliche of Amsterdam. The pancakes are a must have but gen some places serve pea soup which is not too authentic. This has to be very thick! It's really delicious but actually only a winter dish.Try to visit the nearby Keukenhof if you like flowers, I'm not sure if the season is over. Happy Holidays!

The Amsterdam store is fabulous! The SA's are very nice, I'd recommend Andrea, who has helped me a lot while I was there contemplating the perfect Bolide. But the others are great too. The store is small, but it is spread over two storeys with jewellery and more bags on the upper floor (last time I went up there they had a stash of Paris-Bombays upstairs). They usually have a few Bolides and Kellys and SO Kellys, as well as Jiges, Medor clutches and sometimes a HAC or a Birkin. I spotted a 35 Rose Shocking chevre Birkin in the window once and when I inquired about it they said it was for sale, so I could have just bought it there and then (of course I was broke...), so it is possible (and rather easy - it was only mu 3rd visit or so) to find a Birkin on the shelve. Enjoy!

My MIL who just returned from babysitting in Amsterdam mentioned she missed the flowers...so I guess the season must have ended...

Too bad she doesn't know anything abt H, otherwise I would have asked her to grab me some scarves...:graucho::p

Periodgirl28 - thanks for the tips especially the food. I love foodie holidays and am looking forward to eating my way thru Amsterdam and Brussels but I don't think I have time to get to antwerp or Knokke. But for sure I will check both stores. I have made visiting Hermes shops part of the holiday experience...but only we Hermes fans kinda of understand. Everyone else thinks I am crazy...as for 35cm, that is the size I want actually!!

Cinderlala - Yes will pop by the Brussels store, am only there for a day but for sure. Will give me a chance to pick up any stuff I did not get in Amsterdam since that is my second stop.

Graciella- Thanks for the SA tip. I will go and look for Andrea when I am in the shop. Wish me luck in getting my dream bag. I hope I am as lucky as you in walking in and finding the bag that I want on the shelves.

The Brussels store is big. They tend to keep birkins and Kelly's for their regulars. I bought a Constance on my last trip, but they admitted that they put it out because there wasn't a wait list for it. They had a good selection of cdc's and scarfs.

Very friendly and helpful staff
