I can't even believe I'm typing this, given how expensive these bags are, but I have a BIG birthday coming up at the end of October and I have sorta, kinda decided to reward myself with my first Hermes. (Not that I know anyone who has one; I don't even think I've ever seen one IRL.) I kind of have it narrowed down to the Evelyne, as some of you already know, and I'm leaning towards Raisin. (Love that dark purple!) I tend to go for larger, although not HUGE, bags, so the GM is probably my best choice sizewise. My dilemma is GM2 (fixed-length strap) or GM3 (adjustable strap.) Is that the only difference between the two? I'm looking in the resale market (online consignments, ebay, etc.) and the prices on the GM3 are quite a bit higher for bags in very comparable condition. I think the adjustable strap would work quite a bit bitter for me, but is it really worth all that much money? All opinions welcome!

I personally don't like the adjustable strap. I won't buy the GM III at all. I pretty much only like the GM II because I like the outside pocket on the back and the fixed strap.
Last time an SA checked for me, there are no raisin GM II Evelynes in the US Hermes system. Lots of GM IIs, just not in raisin. You'll have to look at the secondary market.
You might try contacting Kaleidoplace or our own dressage queen. Both are very good at locating hard to find used items in magnificent condition.

oh, beth, I've hated adjustable straps from the time I was a little girl. I don't like the marks the metal dealie leaves on the canvas or leather. For whatever reason, my eye goes to those indentations/discolorations first.

I chose... RAISIN! A scrumptious purpley-brown. Or maybe a luscious chocolately-purple. From what I've read, it changes in different lights. I will definitely post pics when it arrives. (Right now I have it on 60-day layaway, so it could be a little while before my reveal.)

over the raisin. Still undecided between that, graphite or Rouge G, and whether to go with the PMII or III. Looking forward to seeing your pics, I'm hoping there's not too much brown undertones to it though, as much as the prune?
