I'm looking for a bag for my fiancee. She wants something she can use for work and should fit her laptop (12.5 in. wide & 8.5 in. tall - similar to smaller macbook). I've never shopped for a bag before and I'm not sure what to look for in terms of quality/features/style. There are so many different options and it's pretty overwhelming :confused1::confused1:.

About her: She 27, works in business, and dresses casual/not flashy. She has a longchamps tote/MK totes that she uses often.

Was hoping to keep budget under 2k if possible, can go up to 3k. Can anyone help/give ideas? =]

Coach has a laptop tote that I think looks very chic - https://www.macys.com/shop/product/coach-laptop-tote-in-crossgrain-leather?ID=5617355

To answer your question about features, what I look for in a work bag is:
  1. Has a top zip. I commute via bus, and if I drop my bag or trip, I don't want everything falling out.
  2. Has a padded laptop sleeve. I could buy a separate laptop case, but it's nice when I comes in the bag.
  3. Room to carry a thermos or water bottle inside the bag with my laptop.
  4. An outside pocket of some sort for my bus pass and/or keys.
  5. Comfortable, wide shoulder straps. I don't like rolled leather straps - they dig into my shoulder - but many women (including your fiancee, it seems!) can use the Longchamp Le Pliage with no problem. I walk a fair bit on my commute though, so if she just drives to and from work, this is not as much of a concern. A common complaint with the Neverfull in Damier Ebene is that the treated leather straps are thin and hard, which can hurt your shoulder.

@OP you are so sweet to ask about this.

If it is too much to consider you could buy her a nice bag from a luxury dept store. As long as you check that it can be exchanged I am sure you will find something great that will work.
