Buying a handbag as a birthday gift for my wife (mid-30s). She's the owner of a design studio, and likes stuff that's colourful and unique. I'm after something along those lines, plus high quality, and luxurious. She doesn't care about brand at all though. She's the type that will wear leopard prints and punk shoes.

I found this handbag from Coach online, and was wondering what everyone thinks of it.

Not sure if its too flash. Also, worried about how long the snakeskin will last.

This is another alternative, but much less flash, and seems to be too mature for her.

Happy with any suggestions. Budget is pretty much anything up to $6k.

Thanks

Well, here's the broken record saying once again; Longchamp. They have everything from very sedate, classic styles to edgy and colorful. They have 3 boutiques in Oz, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and usually the LC boutiques will also send things to you if you live further away.
From the Amazone line they have f.e. this amazing creation whereas the Cavalcade line has everything from leopard print belt bags to loads of fringe. And so much more!
Longchamp doesn't make insanely expensive bags, but the quality, leathers and customer service is grade A all the way.

After your description of her character and style I would never have considered the Givenchy. Although I wouldn’t wear punk shoes this would be even too classic (or mature) for me.

What do you mean with „unique“?
A special design or color or the fact that it is under the radar of most people?

I guess there are a lot of special or unusual bag out there which are even though hyped on social media. Are they still „unique“?

The two bags you chose are quite different in many ways. Maybe it would be easier to decide first which kind of bag would be the best for her needs and preferences.

Does she carry much? What occasion do you have in mind? Even the color of the hardware should be a question.

A bag with gold hardware might be useless for someone who only wears silver accessories. A top handle bag or a bag with a short strap might not be the best for someone who prefers to wear the bag crossbody.
Some like backpacks others don‘t or won‘t use them.

I have a small bag I love but for my best friend it would be useless because she always carries her continental wallet with her which wouldn’t fit in there.
Her favorite bag is a small top handle with silver hardware which wouldn’t work for me because I wear my bags crossbody (just to explain what I mean).

Personally I love most of the Chloé bags for their unique design.

Koodos to you for joining and finding hopefully a perfect bag for your wife! Emmapeel questions will definitely help with any suggestions others may make.

I think this bag is beautiful and sounds like it would fit her style.

It's from a past season, but it is possible they might still have it in stock if you call a Coach store. They made several styles with these leather sequins.
If you want something bigger, there is this:

They also make the Callie clutch in the same pattern. I personally like this better than the snakeskin.

Did you know that you can get bags customized at some Coach stores and online? That might appeal to her. You pick out a bag or wallet and they customize it for you with leather rosettes, studs, pins, and patches.
