I wanted to get some idea what the policy is with Hermes during Covid and shipping a handbag if you do not live anywhere near one. I am about 10 hours away from the closest Hermes store, and I am wondering if they would only offer you a bag if you cannot come to see it. I am asking specifically about the coveted bags, Birkin, Kelly & Constance. I am older so going to a store to see a bag makes me very nervous. Has anyone had an SA mail one of these bags without going into the store to see it first? Any input/thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Same as AnnaE, I have not had an issue with my SA shipping my purchases (including SLGs and even a leather quota bag) during COVID. Also based in the US but in a different state than my SA.

Out of curiosity, is this store in Hawaii? I think it's only the boutiques in Hawaii that are observing this exception.

It is possible to get an offer without going into a store. I have been in contact with my SA in Hawaii - I'm based in CA - and bags were offered to me during our virtual shopping appointment via FaceTime.

What makes you say that? I have been getting leather goods, including bags, shipped since COVID started. I am in the U.S.

+1 on this. my Home store is in CA. I’ve been told I can get bags shipped to me, but it does require SM approval. Like anything Hermes, it just depends on your relationship with your SA and The Store.

The answer to the question, like literally almost everything when it comes to Hermes, is *it depends*.

1) Depends on your store
Like already mentioned in the thread, some boutiques are willing to ship quota bag while some others, including mine, are still unequivocally against it. My store is also in the US. For the most part, SM has the final say on what they decide to do with the store they are running.

2) Things can change from month to month / week to week
In the same vein, SM may revise their polices as time goes on. We've had people report different situations for the same store (in that store's shopping sub-forum thread) from week to week as situations change.

3) It's case by case
It also depends on the customer (you). For example, understandably, they are much more willing to give the OK for shipping a bag to someone they know (have a purchase history with them) versus a completely new customer who they've not talked with before.

I do think generally speaking they've greatly relaxed remote shopping / shipping rules compared to pre-COVID. But I don't think anyone can promise you 100% how it will work for you specifically...they can only speak about their experiences and again, as it is the way with Hermes, people's experiences can vary due to many factors. So my advice is to simply ask...give the store / your SA a call!

P.S. in terms of getting an offer remotely...they've always been able to give an offer before you go in to see the bag in person, so I think that's always possible. Whether you feel comfortable accepting one before inspecting it in person is another question. Like mentioned above, some stores are doing FaceTime / video calls so you can at least see it, but I understand that if you are super perfectionist, it's still not quite the same thing. If you fall into that category, I would also inquire about the specifics of how they are handling that & what happens if a problem arises once you receive the bag...just so you are completely informed before making a decision. Good luck!

Wow...thank you all for your responses! I am glad to hear that they are being somewhat more willing to ship with Covid. I do have a purchase history with Hermes, but I have not bought a quota bag before (I have a few other bags however). I appreciate everyone's input!

Echoing others sentiments here but it really depends on the store, your SA, purchase history, the circumstances, etc. It never hurts to ask! The store I shop at needs approval to ship quota bags but I've never had issues with getting that approval.

Good luck!!
