Hi,

We are attending a wedding in about a month’s time, and I’m in need of some shoe suggestions! I have some caveats - I really can’t do traditional heels. I am open to a platform, or a wedge (in fact I prefer them). Comfort is definitely important!

Also can’t do a narrow toe box. Open toe may be better even though my toes are currently horrible ugly (the actual reasons for no narrow toe box - quite the vicious cycle here). Any ideas?

Also undecided on the bag, but threw in some possibilities.

Thanks!

Sorry, could you please give us some information?

1) Wedding theme
2) Wedding location and setting (and temperature if outdoors)
3) Main color(s) of your dress/outfit (if that is not the photo you posted earlier)

There are just too many variables at the moment.

Thanks.

Based on what you wrote and the pics, Im assuming you want a recommendation for a platform or wedge under a long mixed metal skirt, color block, sleeveless top, and metallic or multicolor bag. and, I’m guessing your style is eclectic. and, since the options seem summery. . . And you selected separates, I’m also guessing it’s not full black tie, but more like cocktail/resort where some guests will wear long and short. I could be totally wrong, but here are some suggestions

(BTW, I've had ankle cartilege replacement surgery and used to wear vertiginous heels. No more).
if a resort wedding (even dressy cocktail/ long skirt, then a flat espadrille or flat sandal. If you have a certain type of style like me, a few years back, a vogue editor was photographed in cocktail attire and leather Birkenstock’s (all black, no exposed cork). birkenstock makes an inexpensive matte silver plastic one called EVA birkenstock. birkenstock also does designer collaborations: I’m fond of the all leather Valentino ones. Bergdorfs unusually carries some form of designer collaboration.
I’m also fond of wearing doc martens with everything (even a chanel cocktail dress) but that’s just me.

cole haan- Cole haan used to do a line with Nike. They typically have a wedge sandal and other shoes in their evening or dressy section that are wide in the toe box and not narrow. Comfy.

stuart weitzman. Depending on how fashion forward you are, you may like SW or think the brand is matronly. But. Every year he does a cork Wedge peep toe that is comfortable. One year an SA told me that he does the same one bc there are women who would riot if it wasn’t available. They are more traditionally feminine

arche - I’m not a fan of their color or styles, but they are comfy.

an unconstructed cushioned flat (I’d go nude) all birds, but you could also go designer. valentino does a rockstud pointy toe flat mule that runs large and is extremely comfy. (I say this as someone who doesn’t like the fit of their cage flat

personally, I’m 53, short, and affect an edgy style. I could even imagine wearing a pair of blue black glitter golden goose sneakers (I like the old school converse style) with the right evening ensemble. But, in that case I would constrain my color choices to navy metallic and black.

purse: in a case where I have both silver and gold metallic, I’d pull out a metallic chanel reissue of in between shade.
for A less expensive option, I like looking at Etsy.
HTH

note: I’m a bit afraid of platforms ever since my mom fell and broke Her wrist. She wore platform sneakers.

Valentino Rockstud espadrilles/wedges. Dressy yet comfortable. May be ideal if the wedding is not too formal. They have several styles, open or closed.

Throwing another comfy suggestion, Bottega mules, but only if wedding is not formal. Either the intrecciato quilted or lido, bc they are classy statement and goes with your outfit. I really can't say enough about their padded soles. Also consider the mesh chain version with the square toe.

Do you know the details of the wedding? Is it outdoors? Will you have to walk in grass? Is it black tie?

It is an indoor wedding, and for sure not black tie. The couple getting married attended a black tie wedding with us and they wore jeans. I’m not going to wear jeans, so I was looking for something in between

1) No idea. This is a pretty disorganized, lower key affair.
2) indoors, but it is in Texas so it’s going to be hella hot outside.
3) it’s all pinky tones. Thé base of the skirt is a pink leaning nude with cool toned opalescent sequins.

Perhaps you could try Clarks? They have some pretty comfortable shoes.
I know they’re not closed-toe shoes, I too am uncomfortable with showing my toes. But I have found that wearing open-toed shoes with thick straps tends to help shield toe exposure.

Hope this helps! Good luck and have fun!
