My new locket is scratched :shucks:

I recently received a sterling silver heart locket from Blue Nile for my birthday and noticed a few faint scratches today. It's only the second day I've worn the necklace. I assume this is because I was rubbing out fingerprints with the cloth for my eyeglasses... I didn't know a "lens cloth" could be so harsh on sterling silver.

Where can I buy some shining cloth for my silver jewelry? Preferably a brick-and-mortar place instead of an online shop, and bonus points if I can find it in midtown Manhattan! Will I be able to buff out the scratches? Please help.

Thanks in advance :)

You should be able to pick up a silver polishing cloth at most jewelery stores and even stores such as Target or Walmart. I had a Tiffany key that got scratches on it and I got them right out with a silver polishing cloth. Hope this helps. (fb)

Scratches on silver are a fact of life. From my experience even a silver polishing cloth will leave small scratches on your silver but I guess it's worth a try to see for yourself. Tiffany sell silver polishing cloths very cheap, only $5 for a small one.
