1. Would someone recommend a good shawl ring that is light and functional?

2. I have a Cosmo ring for my 35-in scarves, but cannot find the larger size one for the shawl. Would someone advise me where to get one?

3. If you have a shawl ring, would you comment on the pros and cos of the particular design?

Thank you very much for your help.

Thanks for your help, Vanmiracle. I do not know how you can find those threads with the search engine inactive at the moment.

The two threads are for scarf rings, and not for the larger size shawl rings. Shawls are 55-in sq and cannot fit the regular size scarf rings that are designed for 35-in sq scarves. I did, however, read through the entire thread "Ode to Hermes Shawls" to find pictures of shawl ring and to learn how people normally wear shawls. I found one and only one photo of someone wearing a large wood/enamel shawl ring. The majority of action photos show members simply hang the shawls around the neck or on the shoulder. Although I do the same without any ring, I somtimes find it inconvenient having to keep my shawl from falling off my shoulder. Thus, I want to get a ring for my shawls.

I had a metal scarf ring, but got rid of it because it is very heavy. Thus, for my shawl ring, I am looking for something that is not too big or heavy. Wonder if such a thing exists?

I have subscribtions on some scarf threads. That's why I found them quickly.
I know 35inch is 90cm. As I only have one 90 carré I don't need such big scarf rings. But my Evelyn is not heavy and it comes in 3 different ways. I chose the small one because I like it better, but there is one in a double size with a little charm like the cotton scarfs have this season.
Here 's a pic with a 70 scarf and the Evelyn ring from my album (works for me with the 90 too:

I must say that I have never seen the big cosmos my self, but I think someone here on the forum bought one, but I can not remember who it was

I found this one in the reference thread, I'm not sure if its still available. Last time I saw it was about 6 months ago at the Madison store.

The one on the top

Other than that, I'v only seen what looks like brooches in the store, but they are really big.

I love scarf rings and use them on my twills all the time. Mostly to compensate for being knot-tying challenged. I love Cosmos, but truthfully haven't used my Cosmos rings yet. I tried to find the large one, someone here indeed bought one and posted about it awhile ago. I asked H to do a search and they told me several months ago that the large Cosmos is entirely sold out. I've never actually seen one, but I don't get to that many boutiques!

The only one that comes to mind for me for the rings for shawls is the one pictured in the thread above. You see them from time to time on eBay as well.

I try to purchase other things for scarf rings and recently found some glass rings in varying sizes - I'm thinking the big size will do for a shawl, though I haven't tried it yet. There is also a size that should work nicely for twill carres, so I bought a bunch of colors! Check a fabric store - where I live we have a very nice local rather high end fabric store and they have fab notions, inclulding all sorts of interesting belt buckles. I've purchased several of them as scarf rings. The only thing you have to be sure of, though, is that there is nothing on the inside of the ring that could snag a scarf so I always run my fingers around on the inside several times before buying. People think I'm nuts, but if they knew I was going to use belt buckles as scarf rings, they'd probably think that anyway!!

Good luck!
