Hi everyone - Happy 4th of July! I searched and found some discussion of Shaun Leane generally, but nothing on the Serpent’s Trace collection. Do any of you have pieces from this collection, particularly the bracelets?

I’m wondering if they’re surprisingly comfortable (like the Cartier Clash) or more “wear to an event for a few hours only” statement pieces. I’m hoping the former as some of his other pieces, like the Thorn bracelets, look designed to be comfortable while looking very uncomfortable. TIA!

I love that bracelet. It won't prickle but it does tickle. Unlike the Clash bracelet it doesn't lie flat (see below).

As with SL pieces, it completely depends on the piece and the size. My Large Hook earring is very comfortable (even though it looks 'difficult)' but my Thorn ring had to go back.

How lovely ! @BigAkoya put Shaun leane on my radar, and she and might know more
Thanks for tagging me.

OP...
I think of Shaun Leane as an iconic British jeweler. His pieces are edgey and unique; he has won awards.
In my opinion though, Shaun Leane pieces are all over the place in terms of fit, as well as quality. I was looking at his three piece Interlocking Aurora Ring which I love, and it does not poke you.

I can't comment on the Serpents Trace fit however.
From your photo, I assume you are looking at their silver pieces which are sterling silver. However, if you are looking at the gold pieces, note the Serpent's Trace collection in gold is only gold vermeil, meaning it's coated gold over silver, not true fine jewelry.

In looking at this collection, it looks like the pieces are articulated and flat on the bottom. I would think this would fit fine as it will be smooth on your wrist. Here is a ring so you can see what I mean. You can see the underside of the ring is flat and smooth.

Note in the writeup of the bracelet, it says the fit is tight, so be sure to measure your wrist for correct fit.

Thanks, both! Very helpful. It’s hard to tell in renders, but I think the ring looks “flattened” inside vs. the bracelet, which definitely protrudes a bit. So maybe the ring is a safer buy.

I’m on a silver kick and looking for something a little out of the ordinary. Shaun Leane has a lot of tempting pieces.

If you are on a silver kick (bold silver pieces seems to be big now), you may want to check out Tiffany. Tiffany has a lot of silver pieces, styles ranging from flowing to edgey.

I'm a big fan of Tiffany silver pieces (especially bold Peretti pieces), so maybe take a peek on their website and see if you find something you like.

Good luck!

Agreed, the ring is more flattened inside, but the bracelet is standout as a statement, sculptural piece.

The pieces are vey sculptural, elegant and strongly Modern, but not to typical 'rock and roll', and don't really need the gold plate IMO. There's a Hook necklace (under collars on the SL website) that I really like, and that looks comfortable.

I tried on some Tiffany silver and gold the other day (Hardwear line) - not impressed at all, not with the pieces and def not with the (non) service. The EP pieces are classics now, and her scorpions, snakes and bones are in the same vein, more money though. Cost wise the Large SL Trace is better value IMO, plus it's not a multinational owned by LVMH.

The hook necklace caught my eye as well! I’m still considering the bracelet and will circle back with a mod shot if I get it.

I actually love the Hardwear line! I have an EP snake ring (highly recommend) and am planning to ultimately purchase the outrageously expensive small snake lariat, so the SL bracelet feels like a complementary piece that isn’t too matchy matchy the way the EP snake bangle would be.

Please do, I'd love to hear :flowers:

I wanted the gold and the large silver Hardware ball rings to wear together. The large silver ball ring I tried on was the last in London, the SA was going to stretch it, I was like, OMG :nono: . The gold one was scratched and not the size I wanted, the SA said it was fine - honestly I am the least fussy person I know but that ring was really scratched and kept turning. I may still get a gold if I can find a better one.

That's a great idea, I like that a lot. I have EP gold mesh earrings. I am a huge fan of her work and I think SL and EP will compliment each other, similar vibes, done with grace and elegance. I just bought a Jessica McCormack snake ring in gold and (tiny) diamonds, but more Victorian in style (biting its own tail). Snakes are so symbolic and I adore what they stand for.

Actually, I like Cartier Clash too so you obviously have great style  :P

Ugh that’s terrible. I only have the u-link pieces from the line. The balls do seem like they’d be scratch magnets (but very cute).

I love that! I have a small collection of antique snake rings and just love them. The EP ring is my only modern snake.

Thank you

I have been wanting this for a while now and I finally got it as a Christmas gift!! The sizing is off for me (I usually wear Medium, but my Sweeter 1/2 got it in XL) and it is pretty big on me. I will try to post pics later, but I really would like to get one in the accurate size because I LOVE it!! I didn't realize SL also has a wider version!! I want that next for sure!!!
